This is why I said she'll be fine, b/c at least she's doing something different. I would be more worried if she was flopping with the same formula. I just need her to be smart about the next era. Let's do promo, explain our creative choices, etc. she can't just sit back and let TikTok do it all for her when she's making such drastic changes. Edited April 15 by professor2000 6
Moonlight Nation Posted April 15 Posted April 15 I love how this set was completely different to her phenomenal headlining-worthy one from 2022 in aesthetics, style, and flow. It takes tremendous versatility to switch it up like that and still make for an incredibly strong viewing experience in its own right. I know some folks have been mixed on this, but I appreciated having the setlist more focused on "Scarlet" and even ignoring her poppier cuts. Doja was making history as the first female rapper to headline Coachella, so it makes sense she'd put this side of her artistry and skillset at the forefront. And it's telling that even though I haven't listened to the full album yet I was thoroughly invested from beginning to end thanks to her energy and stage presence. Genuinely made me want to finally check out the album, because many songs caught my attention. The visuals, outfits, and stage set-up were beyond cool and very authentic to Doja's vibe this era. My only grievance was the guest features leaving a bit to be desired performance-wise (and I was really looking forward to hearing Teezo Touchdown with how great he sounds on the studio version of "MASC"). Also, it would have felt right to have one final song after "Wet ******". "Rules" would probably be the ideal option, but I was also thinking of a reworked version of "Kiss Me More" with a more aggressive and sexual beat - this amazing mashup comes to mind. It would fit so well with the muddy orgy setting. By the way, do we have any predictions for next week? If I recall correctly, Doja didn't change the setlist or guests for 2022's Weekend 2, but brought alternate versions of her outfits. I know it involves a "Planet Her" track, but my dream guest would be JID for "Options". 4

Alex Posted April 15 Author Posted April 15 the way she gave Scarlet her 10s like half a year later with a fully dedicated headlining set but was radio silent when it actually dropped and did virtually no form of promotion ofc there was the tour as well but it was also very lowkey i really don't understand how her mind works lol, maybe for the best 1
