it's crazy how she always gets TTH for every song she drops

Attention, Demons, PTTR and Agora Hills all had top 3 TTH when they dropped. pass the payola crown dua:crown:

The way some of you are always so suspicious and scandalized when one of the highest streamed artists on the platform gets a high debut on TTH :toofunny2:  There's nothing crazy about it, it's a direct result of her success

OT. The songs are weak

The music isn't good. Thank god her Rated R era is over soon. She knows she needs the gays by her side again

I just listened to Masc and that sucks.

Pan and Flop…it's bad for her

People were calling Agora Hills a flop too for not instantly smashing, yet it's still on the charts all these months later

i'm not saying don't push her at all but have you heard some of these songs?

in what world are attention, demons or even now OKLOSER gonna be hits? maybe in planet her

but looks like the highest streamed artist can't even get a debut within the top 100 on US spotify with this massive push

now i hope this tanks so RCA can send her back to the studio to make some hits

give us another need to know:giraffe:

Maybe playlisting isn't what atrl makes it out to be

Curated playlists pretty much work like conventional radio. Consistent previous success leads to great initial airplay but if the song doesn't click, it gets dropped sooner or later. Demons and Attention slid right out of TTH and so will OKLOSER if it continues to do poorly

Pop & R&b Doja >>

She can rap but her lyrics are not that interesting to be a full time serious rapper and it's boring

Also these new songs sound cheap and just like b-sides. I only liked Masc and Headhigh

I really enjoyed "Planet Her" and her collab with SZA. It was fun, carefree, and showcased her phenomenal talent in pop music. And she is a great rapper, entertainer and performer.  But I'm not a fan of her recent demonic Scarlet persona, with her being naked and covered in blood. It feels like unnecessary shock-value. She doesn't need it; her talent speaks for itself.

I get it and i'm in the same boat as you. Pop Doja was my icon lol. But it became clear very fast they she hates that kind of music or doesn't identify with it anymore. I want her to put on a wig and make pop tunes again more than anyone else. But I really enjoy this facet of the artist as well. Most of her hardcore stans are saying this Deluxe is better than the OG Scarlet and I agree with them.

It's 2024 and we have so many artists just going the commercial route I don't think its bad Doja doesn't want to go do that and tried something 10x less commercial.

This was a surprise release

It was only released on apple music the first day it just went up on spotify

We don't care about streams

This wasn't made for billboard

This was made for the streets

There's the middle ground though…like she can be an artiste, while still doing Pop.

My complaint with her is that she thinks going the Kendrick Lamar route will make people take her more seriously.  When being eclectic is what she should lean into (her strong suit)…while keeping the hooks digestible for Pop.

Like "Shots" is literally right there.  It's different, but could be Pop crossover.  Yet she keeps ignoring the fan requests.   Maybe she saving for DC5, who knows.

She thinks Pop is corny, so she's doing the opposite…but hurting herself commercially in the end.

THE ONLY reason why I care about her commercial success is because I want her to have budget to meet her creativity.  I can't go back to the early days with just 1-2 green screen music videos per album.  :skull:

I really don't know why some of y'all think a cover is gonna have some huge impact on the songs doing well :skull:

I agree with everything you said I just fear she's past pop. Who knows I doubt she even started working on her next album. Since no songs have been sent to radio I don't think this Deluxe was a major thing for RCA it got some cute play listing but she's fine. Honestly I will be more concerned if she outright flops with her next official single.

I will say that if she really wants to be a rap girl she needs to play the rap girl game and start doing more features. Why didn't she send in a verse for New Body with Kanye? She needs to end up on one of these rap dudes album or something like come on Doja play the game.

If you live in America, have you left? I thought the same until I spent 8 months in Europe. Rap is NOT local. From Norway to Greece I heard nothing but hip-hop being played in clubs.

There are two factors at play here, the first one being as this is a global chart, Doja needs to reinforce attributes in her music that appeal to a global audience (not just a U.S. one).

In the same way "Starships" was the perfect marriage of melody and rap for Nicki, "Say Something" was for Doja. She needs to bring back/ maintain catchy chorus hooks in her songs so her music is a blend of rap/ singing (not just rap alone). This will re-engage the collective ear of a wider demographic.

The second factor is, in the same way people once had a negative response to Katy chopping her hair off, they have also had the same response to Doja doing the same and they want a softer, more feminine less "Punk" aesthetic from her.  Its all about maintaining subversive lyrics, all the while sugaring the pill.

You mean Say so? What is Say something?

She has such a versatile voice… I wish she made good music again…..
