mickeyderon Posted April 12 Posted April 12 I definitely like this but as always (with me) Dua's tracks have to grow on me then I'm obsessed. I think she surely has to be doing an extended mixes album. Another remix album won't surprise me either.
Khal Posted April 12 Posted April 12 That 2006'd bedazzled belt is killing me, why did her stylist do that to her? Looking like one of those Saudi Arabia covers that someone photoshopped on for modesty

aaron511 Posted April 12 Posted April 12 I guess I just don't like dance music FN was a fluke for me 1 1
CroNich Posted April 12 Posted April 12 I already can't get this out of my head but an evolution from Future Nostalgia this is not, so I don't know how this is going to go down with the GP, but I also think it could end up being the song of summer, I really can't tell

Archetype Posted April 12 Posted April 12 (edited) This sort of sounds like Zara / H&M background music… but the biggest disappointment is how Danny and Tame produced something so bland. Imagine producing Caroline Polachek's Desire and then putting this out. Also just so y'all know, I love Dua and hope she smashes with anything. This one just isn't for me. Burqa Posted April 12 Posted April 12 (edited) why isn't the extended instrumental on spotify she also needs to drop both instrumentals for houdini ASAP Edited April 12 by Burqa
ATRL Moderator bluebirdsforever Posted April 12 ATRL Moderator Posted April 12 This is a great bop and I'll definitely be playing on repeat, but I kinda think it was a poor choice for a third pre-release song - it feels very similar sonically/thematically to Houdini and Training Season so I was hoping she would use this opportunity to show a different side to the album and maybe more of the psychedelia she's been talking about...
ATRL Moderator bluebirdsforever Posted April 12 ATRL Moderator Posted April 12 Oh and I LOVE the video, Houdini's video grew massively but Training Season is still a bit of a miss for me so she's 2/3
Virgos Groove Posted April 12 Posted April 12 (edited) She saw how TKOW (Jacques Lu Cont Remix) is my favorite Duallah song and said "here, my little homossexual, another sunny Ibiza'd bop just for you!" Edited April 12 by Virgos Groove 1

spiritboy Posted April 12 Posted April 12 It's not bad but easily the worst of the three songs released so far. 1 1
Supervillain Posted April 12 Posted April 12 I literally can't stop playing this, I'm looping it all day at work… Currently at my 70th play 2
mrpartyrocker Posted April 12 Posted April 12 This era is clearly not meant to chase hits and #1s and that's okay. She's just having fun with music and enjoying herself. She needed to slow down this era and I'm sure she's gonna come back even stronger. Maybe she can aim for a new album and world tour in 2025. 1
Parallel Posted April 12 Posted April 12 Tbh I was optimistic with the snippet but the rest of the song is just okay. I don't see this doing any better than Houdini. Dua will stay getting those global hits and she'll always be a household name in Europe but I'm just a little concerned for her here in the US. It's really hard to crossover for foreign acts and the US GP is really fickle. Idk how this era will pan out for her here but hopefully it works itself out and I'm sure the gays will carry her to a nice debut week 2

Bland is a bit harsh but yeah. I think this is one of this era's biggest issues so far. Clearly, the idea was to pair up two alternative creators with a mainstream superstar and merge the two worlds into a record that is equal parts artistically daring and commercially serviceable. But it feels like Danny and Kevin kind of got absorbed into Dua's sound and status instead of meeting halfway so we ended up getting Future Nostalgia with a #psychedlic twist. Houdini is the one of the 3 that came closer to striking a balance and that's why it's the best Anyway all 3 songs are solid. 'dini > illu-u-u-u-u-u-uuu > uk raving season 3
ThousandMiles Posted April 12 Posted April 12 It's a hit! did anyone else notice her doing the same choreography in the video that she does all the time? It's getting so tired. fire the choreographer!
