i'm confused why they would think that when all the singles have been pretty much uptempos. maybe a mid tempo would fare better at this point? idk...

Lmao I don't understand why the stans of the Sample Lady with MID music are having a meltdown on this thread, it's so random. :biblionny:

god, it's not THAT bad, and it's just a 30s snippet... relax :skull:

She's truly the most boring, unoriginal popstar and I think people are finally waking up to that fact

It sounds like something Daft Punk would create and I'm here for that.

Not really, it was sent to US radio

I still cannot get over the fact that her team did not promote "Physical" in the US. That's one of the biggest pandemic pop injustice.

Not the Ava stans in here acting bold.   Baby miss Dua would never release a track like "My Oh My".   She's not that type of girl.

Seriously. My Oh My is a total banger and so is Houdini. Illusion sounds amazing too. Always with the same trash, ny god

My Oh My is trash and she will never top My Head & My Heart. Now that that's been established please stop talking about the sample lady

Did her father have previous management experience?

If not it was a mistake to bring him on board. She's way too big of a brand to be in untrained hands. She should've just given him a vanity title or some inconsequential role on the tour team like other artists that keep their family around.

Sounds like a SMASH. :jonny:

Not gonna lie, I was really hyped after TS and Houdini snippets but it sounds like somethings missing here... still holding out hope that it will be great tho, at least a good summer banger....

... I have a feeling the most obscure track from the record will become the smash hit though... Like Maria...

I like it, excited for the full thing 😎

hmmmm the production sounds a bit empty… i guess that's just the first chorus and it will build

that's what we all thought about TS and look how it ended...

We thought he was just going to be an interim manager until she got a new one but… seems like he's still there :emofish:

Wait that actually sounded good :WAP: first good song of the era is coming

I honestly understand why people feel that something's missing, I don't agree, but the "ooo ooo ooos" aren't super flashy.

What confuses me is that so many people love Hallucinate but the "iii iiii iiii iiiis" in that song aren't really different.

3 out of 11 songs being released before the album's out next month and none of them are special…what a mess.

Well it's not too late to turn the ship around.

Although regardless of the rollout, my personal issue with the music is that it all kinda merges into one … feeling predictable. Might be a good time to switch the tempo and do the unexpected, get people talking. This snippet sounds something to let play in the background cus it's inoffensive but also doesn't leave a lasting impression.

I also don't like when artists release too many song ahead of the album. Billie almost ruined HTE for me with that. I literally avoided anything after Therefore I Am till the album came. The discovery rush is depleted when half the tracklist are months old by release date.

I mean, if nothing else this era will be a learning by lesson to Dua's team. Despite the incredibly dramatic responses to things this era, it's hardly a mega bomb and most importantly— her brand isn't damaged at all, in fact, it might even be better than it was during FN since she's improved as a performer. The music is fine, even if people don't prefer it to FN, it's not awful.

And that's what I don't think people really get. There's a lot of backseat problem solving going on, but I'm not sure there's really any major issues going on. The rollout is a little messy, sure, but FN's was too. Selective memory I suppose. Regardless, not every era is gonna have mega smashes, but Radical Optimism is doing well enough. Next era will be more telling, seeing how she pivots or tries a different direction. It'll be the real indicator of how adaptable Dua can be. RO was always doomed coming off the heels of the biggest pop era of the decade, it was always going to be hard to live up to that, and I think it's time to let that standard go.
