Støned Posted April 3 Posted April 3 I really wanted to but Taylor seems to be overexposed from where I live (especially since the recent Eras tour hype here), new music from her is the least that I could've wished for. 1

The whole lighting up the ex who wronged me with words to kill routine is really tired and treaded territory. I wish she allowed some distance from the relationship before firing all cylinders. Taylor used to write to express herself. Now i feel like she's in it for the discourse and maintaining her momentum on Spotify. I will check out the album but the song titles aren't reassuring, So long London being the most blatant of them all. Oh well, she's gonna sell a plane-load of copies regardless … This is exactly how I feel. I would love a mature and nuanced take on their relationship, which I know she's capable of delivering, but I worry not enough time has passed since the end of the relationship for her to deliver that. She also immediately jumped to 2 back to back relationships after the breakup, so I wonder if she had enough time and space to reflect on her relationship with Joe in a healthy way. 2 2
cuteboyzay Posted April 3 Posted April 3 Hyped for another 5-6 months over a bunch of Swifties bragging about the amount of streaming numbers and not the quality of the album? No. Interested in seeing what Taylor might deliver because I believe she is a good artist and she knows how to deliver an ERA? Yes! 1
lgaga1fan Posted April 3 Posted April 3 She's been everywhere and oversaturated like every social media feed I've been on in the past year and my interest in her as a figure, celebrity, musician, etc has completely dissipated. I used to LOVE Taylor before the whole Covid boom of her career happened, but ever since I cant help but feel disinterested. While I enjoyed the Eras tour in person a lot, I can't help but feel it was underwhelming when seeing the Chromatica Ball and Renaissance Tour in the same year. The whole Midnights act I completely zoned out because I found it largely boring. I preferred when she was at the piano or had a guitar, it felt way more earnest and less put on because that's what she's best at.- I'm hoping this next album is a bigger return to form and not another attempt to do Melodrama (MIDnights). I'm hoping for some softer ballads and some BIG pop hits but who knows anymore in this era of relatability that every "modern" popstar is trying to uphold. Also I've just had a hard time divorcing the whole "underdog" narrative of her career when she's consistently been at the top of the game in streaming/charting for the past decade. It gets boring to talk about her ad nauseum because all of her achievements feel like symptoms of catering to a largely middling, boring class of people that want relatable music. I like songs with strong melodies and production and feel like she's been lacking in that largely since Lover. Seeing Post Malone on the tracklist gives me hope for at least some big pop bangers on the record. tldr: not excited but hoping to be surprised by a return to actual POP music in some form 1
olivethetree Posted April 3 Posted April 3 I'm excited to have the album on repeat for a whole week then pick out the songs i'll use for my apple music library
Iaintsorry Posted April 3 Posted April 3 Not really. Once she drops the lead then maybe. Btw where is it? Where is she? Is she gonna stay under the radar until April 19th?
Sawk Posted April 3 Posted April 3 Extremely, she's been irking me as a person, but her music never truly disappoints fully
Pillz Posted April 3 Posted April 3 This is like asking me if I'm excited for boiled eggs and toast 4
Klein Posted April 3 Posted April 3 I'm going mental waiting for the album so do with that what you will.
The7thStranger Posted April 3 Posted April 3 Nope. The over saturation is just too much at this point that it will likely be decades before I feel any desire to listen to her music again. Just being honest.
LikeaRebel Posted April 3 Posted April 3 I've never been hyped for any Taylor Swift album so why would this be any different?
sunbathinganimal Posted April 3 Posted April 3 (edited) going to have to agree with the majority here Edited April 3 by sunbathinganimal
Jjang Posted April 3 Posted April 3 It's a release I'm gonna listen to the way I listen to everything. Am I counting the days? no.
Kern Posted April 3 Posted April 3 love OTHs whining about Taylor being "over-exposed" and making thread about her on a daily basis and writing essays and "my opinions" that no one asked for 3
Wonderland Posted April 3 Posted April 3 Not really tbh. I hope I'm surprised but her music just feels less personal recently. I'm not as invested in her as I once felt I was.
WitnessOblivia Posted April 3 Posted April 3 Yeah, I love the vibe and aesthetic. Hopefully the music will be just as good.
Kristie Kuwa Posted April 3 Posted April 3 not at all - which has less to do with her and more to do with the media and her fans. Its gonna be an obnoxious mess where everyone will praise her for her output regardless of the quality simply because shes going to open and deliver insane numbers (which is literally inevitable at this point)
CherryBay Posted April 3 Posted April 3 If Jack Antonoff is involved in this project … then no. Been there done that.
zoli90210 Posted April 3 Posted April 3 Since her last truly great album was 1989, and her albums after that were real snoozefests (apart from maybe reputation), no. 1

Taylor fanboy Posted April 3 Posted April 3 VERY HYPED! The sooner it's out, the sooner reputation (Taylor's Version) is. I need goth punk female rage BACK in pop music. 1
diemoehre Posted April 3 Posted April 3 I am. I like most of her music. I don't neccessarily expect this to be her magnum opus but a good album.
