I mean congrats, "defund the police" became a rallying cry and resulted in a **** ton of places *increasing* their police budgets in response, literally everyone and their brother has made the hasan Houthi joke the second this story went viral, not to mention that viral vid of the girl badgering him over drinking Coke Zero and violating the boycott (“at least pretend you care and drink it offscreen”) that even landed on an Australian news channel, I promise you optics consideration is not some kneecapping shitlib boogeyman. Like if tomorrow North Korea sent in troops to beat back Israel, no matter the net benefit, you're not gonna see my ass on the streets chanting "Kim jong Kim Jong make us proud"

Increasing the police budgets while "defunding" other public sectors is genuinely the default. Defund The Police was a scapegoat, but plenty of municipalities did what they were going to do anyway. Electing Crime Bill Biden was only ever going to lead to a police state, which is what we've gotten.

 

As for Hasan Piker, if you're not even going to pretend that you care about BDS, then you're not even meeting the bare minimum when it comes to supporting Palestinians. Hasan is all talk, so criticism of him for drinking Coke Zero at a protest is completely deserved

National news outlets like ABC are PR outfits for the police, just as much as they are for Israel and the IDF.
