It's only March but Tyla's debut self-titled debut album is AOTY and is acclaimed already with a MC of 84 :clap3: are you surprised the South African queen served so much quality? what do you think of the album?

Definitely not album of the year! The album is sonically boring and most of the songs sound similar. Her voice is also one tone, the most uninteresting albums of the year!

It's too basic and safe to even be the album of the quarter but it's very cute!!

It's a cute debut but it's basically 14 variations of Water

Thanks for the free promo!

Lemme ignore your delulu opening statement and say that the album is very cute and cohesive and I enjoy the ampiano elements as I have been slowly falling in love with that sound within the last 6 months.

I realized Tems' last two singles has ampiano percussions compared to her previously songs that were more  afrobeat in sound, it might be a new wave and they are some of the forerunners.

And the recording academy better not forget it when award season swings around.  :gaycat2:

In between now and then, Epic needs to secure at least one more hit though.

….and in all seriousness, that MC score is pretty damn good.  Higher than most MPG girlies lately.  :celestial5:

Not shocked at all. I had some doubts at first but I knew she would pull through. The album is amazing and I've been listening to it non-stop.

Tbh I've seen this comment a lot but it all comes down to the album's cohesiveness. I think purposely choosing to use similar drum sounds on all the tracks was an artistic decision.  To me, it definitely makes the album flow quite nice.
