Is it time to stop the Shakira & Beyoncé comparisons?

Beyoncé has been leeching on popular artists and songs in the past, but the difference she didnt put any input on the original songs, shakira did it, the songs are about HER story, not the same case.

I have my answer. :clap3: If only you held Shakira to the same standard as you hold Beyoncé to.

OT: With Renaissance debuting with 43.2M and Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran debuting with 13.5M I think it's clear they're not in the same league anymore.

Puntería' by Shakira and Cardi B debuts at #87 on Global Spotify with 1.91 million streams.

smashing :rip:

Shakira's new album has 3.4B streams and just pulled in another 13M. It has outstreamed every Beyonce album ever except IASF (when including the Platinum, Deluxe and International versions). And it's going to surpass that in April.

All I see are songs with artists who are all currently bigger than Shakira

And TQG is Karol G's 4th biggest song ever and Shakira's Bizarrap is the second biggest volume ever. To claim she's not a draw when her 12th studio album is already over 3M units and she's still going is…a choice, sis.

OT: Shakira's new album is massive. You girls will learn to stop downplaying her at some point.

Why is the first woman to go #1 on the Billboard 200 with an all Spanish album being discredited again? Karol G was very much a driving force behind TQG's success. Comparing features to solo songs from 2022 whilst at the same time excluding Beyoncé's most recent smash is comical.

the album Karol G delayed for more than 6 months because she wanted that collab with Shakira?, the sucess of TQG was because the Session, and the Session was sucessful because Shakira, btw more than 80% of the sales of karol's album come from TQG.

No, the previously released songs were massive. Which is why she included them on her album. If her album was massive, she would've been able to debut with more than 13.5M streams. :rip: Who do you think you're fooling? :toofunny3:

TQG is not even 15% of MSB total streams :deadbanana2:

Even MSB (Bichota season) debuted with more streams than Shakira's playlist with only 9 songs.

Session 53 outdebuted her ENTIRE album and they're really thinking the success of that song (which was a massive fad by the way, CUFF IT was outstreaming it daily prior to the release of this album :deadbanana:) and her Karol G feat is reflective of her actual status :bibliahh:

take out TQG of Karol G album and it would have tanked hard.

They compare and lump Beyonce with everybody and then get mad when the hive start buzzing. Shakira is legendary and is talented and deserves flowers but Bey is bigger than her and that's okay.

Do you think TQG would have been successful without Karol? Do you think it would have been successful if it were a collaboration with Nati Natasha, Becky G, Anitta or Rosalía? :chick2:

They both benefited from it. But the difference is that Karol was able to be successful after that collab, Shakira... welp.

Ridiculous thread concept. Did we forget the Gift era so soon? Beyonce has had plenty of flop mini eras. Let Shakira have hers in peace

yes TQG would have been sucessfull without Karol, Shakira would have dropped a song with farts after the Session, and she would have smashed.

Karol G without Shakira would have floped hard, there's a reason why all her songs after TQG flopped.

go to stream break My soul, cutt it & and AHAP, maybe in a decade the album will have 5 or 6 billion streams.

Imagine being punished for having such a succesful lead single for your 2nd album in 3 act trinity.

Brace yourself for next week.

But that's the point, Beyoncé's was a "mini era". The example you have used is of a compilation soundtrack. Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran is a Shakira studio album, not a "mini era" and it features some of the biggest artists in Latin music. Yet...

Shakira tried to do what The Weeknd did (a streaming "hits" compilation) and it didn't work for her.

LOL Shakira being a global artist is an ATRL myth. She was only big in Latin countries (well, she sings Spanish!) & some parts of Asia and Europe. She hasn't had a number one hits in the UK for so long. Her highest certified album in Japan was around 50K and she's not doing any better in the US, Australia, NZ or Canada. Meanwhile, Beyoncé was one of the most certified female in the US, UK, Australia while she sold 100K, 400K and 250K albums in Japan. That does not include DC who sold 500K with a GH album alone. Beyoncé is also much bigger artist in total streams on Spotify, Apple Music and more monthly followers on Asia's streaming apps like JOOX and QQ music. Beyoncé is also much more beloved artist in South Korea, Philippine and Indonesia and had visited South Africa, South America, North America, Asia, Oceania and Europe for her tours during her peak. The fans got really brave and dragged B at her lowest and now we finally know what her selling/streaming power truly like.

It's not a point of comparison it's just that them 2 and Mariah are the ONLY 90s acts that are relevant these days, it doesn't really matter which one is a little bigger or so because that's still an achievement no matter what.

Disregarding that, you can't base Shakira's success on her album first week numbers when she literally released half of it since a year ago. She broke more than 10 record Guinness with 1 song, had 2 top 10 hits with songs fully IN SPANISH and both have +1B streams.

Beyonce's impact might be bigger in some markets but Shakira's is bigger in others. If anything YOU should stop comparing them and accept they're both great in their own way.

Bye.

Her mini eras are approaching 1B streams as we speak. Homecoming had 1B streams despite being a live album as well.

I wouldn't even say The Gift and EIL are mini eras. They're not Beyonce eras straight up.

Studio albums and collaboration albums/soundtracks aren't the same which is why charts don't count The Gift/EIL when they talk about Beyonce studio albums and her #1 streak. EIL is credited as The Carters and don't contribute to Beyonce's streams and The Gift is literally described as a soundtrack for the Lion King. Plenty of big artists have had flop soundtracks and collaboration projects.
