ABrBoy Posted April 27 Posted April 27 The song is boring and uninteresting, is not what her public (and the general public) wanted from her, the numbers are a proof of this. 1
Khamis Posted April 27 Posted April 27 Im back yall but only to say…. An absolute MESS. if Normani could make her huge stan's like myself completely uninterested so much so that I didn't bother to listen to this til like 3pm yesterday… I feared for her. After 7 years of waiting, people were bound to stop caring. anyway always hoping things work out for her in the end but this type of music was always gonna alienate her built in base so it'll be an uphill battle. But I'm glad some of y'all are enjoying this and maybe Candy Paint can pull more interest to the project 1 1
remming Posted April 27 Posted April 27 I do not care. The roll out has been terrible. Normani disappeared for days and the day before this was supposed to come out she posted a tiktok for an unreleased song. She's very unserious 2

Scandalous Posted April 27 Posted April 27 she has the worst ******* team this should've dropped w the album announcement while the hype was there. people already forgot + 34 other pop girls released in the 2 months she waited

Even Wild Side took a few weeks to gain traction. What are you talking about? Wild Side's biggest week was its 1st, it debuted at #14 on Hot 100. It was Top 10 on Apple Music at its peak. It then freefell to like #45 on Hot 100 its 2nd week and never reentered Top 40, just stabilizing around #50 eventually with the radio increases. 4
shelven Posted April 27 Posted April 27 Honestly I think the biggest takeaway from this whole thing (which most people knew already, except her team apparently ) is that she's the type of artist where she NEEDS a Day 1 music video. That was always what drove the vast majority of the debut week interest in both Motivation and Wild Side. Not saying a video would have turned this into a huge smash, but it would have gotten more people talking about her online and driven some more interest. Her label and team are honestly fascinating because they seem so oblivious to really basic aspects of what Normani's commercial appeal is 11 1

Too many years passed, there's too many newer girls with more momentum. Nobody is stopping the world for Normani anymore. She needs to work for her hype again like a real new artist. Fans need to not gas her like she's a legend because her team (no matter what people she hires) feeds into it too much. Also, it does not help "Dopamine" as an era is so DARK. Like where's the fun, it's almost summer? 5 1

Sad Beautiful Tragic Posted April 27 Posted April 27 This serves its purpose and remains a great introduction to the album 1
SharGaga Posted April 27 Posted April 27 Not saying it would have done better but who thought releasing the week after Taylor dropped a 31 track album was the best idea? 2 years no single and this is the week you choose? It's a decent song btw. Also, I just saw Wild Side has like 150M streams on Spotify after 3 years. It seems like people aren't here for R&B Normani. I think it comes down to the fact that these days singers who can also write their own (great) music seem to be doing better these days. They rely on themselves and not others to give them hits. Nobody is going to give Normani their best when she doesn't really do anything to promote it. This is a hot take but every time Normani previews a song she seems more enamored by the fact that she is hearing her own voice on a song than actually worrying about it it being a great song. Like she really is in love with herself and believes in her own hype. Anyway let's just hope the album will beat Jlo's numbers. Considering she's had 6 years I'm sure it will be a solid piece of work. 1

TripToYourLove Posted April 27 Posted April 27 OBSESSED WITH THIS!!!!! After 4-5 listens it really clicked with me was the Gunna collab needed? Absolutely not. But this still has me really excited for the album! People crying about the numbers need to get a grip. Firstly, it's day one. Normani isn't an A-list musician, you're dumb if you thought this had a chance of getting great numbers from the start. Especially without a music video. Second, this clearly wasn't released to be a smash hit. It's a lowkey RNB song and it's what NORMANI wanted to release. Be happy she's finally releasing her music and that we actually have a date for the album. Y'all so negative and chart obsessed. Completely ruining the vibe. At this point in Normani's career we know we've past the initial public hype era so any big hits she's gonna get are most likely gonna have to be organic hits. If you want singles that shoot to #1 first week then this isn't the girlie to stan for you. 7
