I remember Dead by Daylight adding Ghostface in 2019 but they couldn’t get the rights to Sidney and people were talking about it for ages (even still today) how weird it feels having Ghostface as a killer but not Sidney as a survivor. 

 

The way some of you keep trying to undervalue Sidney’s relevance to Scream is extremely weird. It’s like saying Buffy Summers didn’t need to be in Buffy after a certain amount of seasons.

On the other hand, it feels natural to move on from her storyline, which is why I don't understand how some of Scream fans think next sequel must include her. This comparison is rotted and you know it  The show is called "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" - it's obvious why it wouldn't make sense to do the show without her. The only vital character to Scream is Ghostface - anyone else is replaceable.

But I didn’t say she must be included in the next sequel. I just said it’s fine to enjoy the new cast whilst also missing Sidney’s character. It’s like if they were to reboot Halloween without Laurie Strode, I’d still enjoy seeing Michael again, but I’d miss Laurie.

No one would be shading Sidney or Neve if you girls weren’t delusionally saying she’s needed for the movies to do well. We literally have factual information proving she is 100% not needed. You girls were claiming 6 would bomb without her and it was a smash that’s outpacing any of the films she led domestically. 

 

Ya’ll are mad over an actress who doesn’t even like this franchise to begin with. It’s just a paycheck to her as it’s been since Scream 3 and she thought she was worth more than she is. I know the point I was trying to make, but it’s hard to explain through text and I don’t want to type out an essay lmao! But basically, I was just trying to say that I find the Sidney hate odd because she was the main character for a long time and I don’t think any of us back then saw a Scream movie without her in it. Was Scream 6 amazing? It sure was! And I absolutely love the new cast we have. But you can show love to Sam and Tara without attempting to tear down Sidney/Neve as it just feels incredibly weird when she’s such a massive part of the franchise.

Well clearly she isn’t needed for them to do well, because like you said, Scream 6 was a massive success and it was clearly stated prior to release that she wasn’t part of it. However, why does any of what you said mean you or anybody else has to shade Sidney or Neve? You can let people be loud and wrong about things without having to stoop to their level. 
 

I love Sidney, Tara and Sam so if somebody shaded Sidney, I wouldn’t rebuttal by shading Tara or Sam. So if you genuinely liked Sidney / Neve, you’d do the same…

Even though I love the character of Sidney, I really don’t want her to return. Scream (2022) felt like her passing the torch to Sam and I’d rather her character get a happy ending over her coming back to the franchise to get stabbed over and over. 
 

She just doesn't feel vital to the franchise anymore. I loved the little nod to her character in Scream 6 and how Gale said she’s taken her family out of harms way - it just felt right. Her returning after Scream 6 would just feel like unnecessary fan service. Sidney’s story is over.
