wantedyoutogrow Posted April 1, 2023 Posted April 1, 2023 if 7 actually takes place somewhere internationally I don't think it would make sense for sidney to return she can return for the next reboot trilogy tho
ConceptD Posted April 1, 2023 Author Posted April 1, 2023 2 hours ago, Josh said: well obviously. It had been almost 10 years since Scream had a new film they were obviously gonna use GF and Neve as the marketing strategy Yes so they obviously got value from casting neve. I don’t think she was missed in scream 6 but nobody could argue that had she been in it they would’ve cantered the marketing around her this time as well.
ATRL Moderator Ampersand13 Posted April 1, 2023 ATRL Moderator Posted April 1, 2023 I personally enjoyed 6's reveal and motive (I know some people think it's the weakest element of the film, but I enjoy it every time I've seen it). The only thing that gives me pause is if they are really making a conclusion to their trilogy (at least for now) with 7, what could possibly bring everyone back while still maintaining an entertaining and compelling motive? Here's my terrible idea lol: Spoiler I'm not great at coming up with fan theories and whatnot, but something I've been thinking could be interesting is if the Ghostface in 7 was motivated by the desire to have a completely clean slate so to speak. More often than not, Ghostface killers have had some connection to the past either through familial relation or romantic. I could see them introducing a new killer whose primary goal is to clean up every loose end possible targeting anyone remotely related to the previous killings (Martha, Joel, Jennifer (if they decide to retcon her), Kincaid, Mrs. Carpenter) all leading to the main survivors (core four, Sidney, etc.). In that sense, the killer isn't motivated by the movies (Mickey, Charlie, arguably Stu), by family (Billy, Mrs. Loomis, Roman, Jill) or even fame. Something that brings back everyone in a way that is kind of different than before

TheOnlyOne Posted April 1, 2023 Posted April 1, 2023 Now only 6.88m from surpassing Scream 2 and 8.57m from surpassing Scream 1 domestically Supreme Final Girl Sam Carpenter did that
GraceRandolph Posted April 1, 2023 Posted April 1, 2023 The way some Scream fans seem to be permanently stuck in the past with how they seem to only want Sidney, Stu, and Woodsboro again.
Gavin. Posted April 1, 2023 Posted April 1, 2023 Finally saw it and was gagged Samantha’s actress was sooooo much better in 6 than 5. The kills were amazing, good chase/fight scenes, no cheesy jump scares, great build up of suspense, nice social commentary on how people are quick to blame women for something a man does Sorry Neve but idk what you would have brought to the movie. They didn’t need you, maybe for the original idea that included you but it is nice that franchise can sort of move on and now has the legs to do so without Sidney (who obviously is the queen supreme final girl but as gale said “let her have her happy ending”)
Gavin. Posted April 1, 2023 Posted April 1, 2023 Oh my god and the punch scene with Gale Chefs kiss. So many great moments of referencing all the prior films while still being fresh
Power love Posted April 1, 2023 Posted April 1, 2023 Imagine making the final scream movie and not having the queen in it is going to bomb hard!

Well they have to be stuck in the past cause the 90s was the last time either Matthew Lillard or Neve Campbell were even relevant 2 minutes ago, Power love said: Imagine making the final scream movie and not having the queen in it is going to bomb hard! You still haven’t learned? That’s exactly what the Sidney truthers were saying a few months ago about 6 bombing without her and look where we are now. A box office smash about to out-gross any Sidney led film
Bhabylon Posted April 1, 2023 Posted April 1, 2023 The newer gen of audiences don’t care about Sidney, lbr
Smarticle Posted April 1, 2023 Posted April 1, 2023 The newer gen don't even care about Sam either though

For 5 minutes, until a new, fresh face comes along and they drop her to stan the new 'it' girl. We know the new generation's attention span lasts for 5 minutes tops + stans the current 'it' girl the industry decides on for the current time being.
Thief Posted April 2, 2023 Posted April 2, 2023 Why are so many people in here being so shady towards Neve Campbell? Sidney is a great final girl and a huge part of the franchise, so it seems weird to be a fan of Scream whilst also attempting to ‘drag’ her. I think the ‘Core Four’ are great and I’ve enjoyed all of them in both Scream (2022) and Scream VI, but you can still miss Sidney considering for the majority of the franchise she’s been the entire plot and she’s also an incredibly likeable character. Let’s face it, when you think of Scream, you think of Sidney. Just like you think of Laurie when somebody mentions Halloween and not Jamie Lloyd. I’m excited to see where they take the franchise in future instalments as so far they’ve shown zero signs of fatigue.
Hurem Posted April 2, 2023 Posted April 2, 2023 Scream VI is competing with His Only Son for the 3rd spot at the box office - both did around $5.3M. Gotta wait for the final numbers, but Scream better pull through
