They might have no idea that it's a country song though. They saw Beyonce in the request, equated it to pop/r&b and said no. Why would they keep up with her releases enough to know that she's now doing country?

Texas Hold 'Em needs to smash on streaming so these incestuous hillbillies have no choice but to play it. I want them to seethe

see this is how you realize you all have no idea about how country radio works

I Remember Everything is a streaming smash being #2 most streamed song on the country after almost half a year that is a country song but still country radio won't even dare to touch it :rip:

Is not about Beyonce's race or whatever you all want to label it as, country radio only support country artists if you are not seen as one then good luck somewhere else!

The version with Chris Stapleton which is a country radio favorite. If Bey had one of their men in the ticket it would be hard but not as hard as a black woman trying it solo

So what? That wasn’t the argument. They said that artists who don’t do country music are not played on country radio at all. Yet, you had a pop, Adele-led record playing on country radio. The person attached doesn’t matter because we saw how Beyoncé attached country artists before such as the Dixie Chicks, and the country community basically spit on them.

All U have to do is look at The Grammys and how they box us into R&B, Hip-Hop/Rap and Gospel categories

At least 5 out of 9 Grammy categories under the folk-americana-roots-blues umbrella had multiple black nominees this year, with black artists winning more than one of those categories. Several of those acts are regularly nominated with each release. I agree that there are overall many issues regarding race-based representation at the Grammys and in the industry overall, but black talent in the folk-Americana realm is being embraced and celebrated.

It makes all the difference. The Chicks are blackballed themselves in country radio. How were they supposed to open doors for Bey when the doors were closed for them back in the 2003? Pop radio carried their last two albums. Chris is a country radio darling. They weren’t playing because of Adele…

The song doesn’t really have that country radio sound so not surprised :coffee2: Daddy Lessons was a true snub though!

I just don't understand why Beyonce objectively makes the same songs she always makes but calls them another genre because the beat is different. It's still pop. It's like calling Four Five Seconds or California King Bed country songs, it's pop but if those stations feel the vibe they'll play it.

Calling FourFiveSeconds “pop” tells me what I need to know about how ATRL perceives genre.

No because according to that user, if they aren’t a country artist, then they wouldn’t be played. Is Adele a country artist?

She had a country artist. It helped her breakthrough and cross, just like Kelly did. If Adele were to drop solo they wouldn’t chart. Proof: every song of hers before or ever since

If you all actually listened to country music, you would know modern country especially has big pop melodies (this wasn't always the case in country).

Turn on a country top hits station and you will see the overlap with country and pop songs these days.

Stations can play this and its definitely country by all definitions.

I feel sexism is also a factor. Don’t female country stars have a rough time on country radio?
White conservative men are very sexist as well.

They’ll pick a black man before a white woman lol. Men will always support men before women.

I always said the right will see a switch. White women will start turning more liberal and dem as they wake up but black and Latino men will start to go more right and red

“Easy On Me” went Top 25 on country radio…

It was a radio edit with Chris Stapleton that is one of the biggest country radio artists of the last decade

And also it only went top 25 cause of a crazy radio deal, it debuted at #25 and never reached that high ever again, cause there is also another key factor on country radio, it's incredibly labels carried, you can take a look at the pushes for #1 and how the songs falls is all orchestrated lol. In this case Beyonce's team is not even trying to push the song on the format is not even available for download on mediabase :deadbanana2:

are we getting more controversy this era? we need more faux outrage

Allison Russell is a queer liberal who has called for ceasefire in Gaza and won her Grammy for a song called “Eve Was Black.” :rip:

Rhiannon Giddens (who plays banjo and viola on Texas Hold Em!) was nominated for an album that has multiple songs addressing sexism and one about police brutality. :rip:

So basically, the intent of this album is to highlight the amount of racism in the music industry.

Basically. And kudos to her!

Now I’m sure that racism is probably 99% responsible, but is it possible they haven’t heard the track and don’t know that she’s doing a country album?

Beyhive needs to understand this is not a fight we can win. The best way for Beyonce to smash on country radio is if it happens organically. Getting messy with radio stations is just going to piss off the old white people in charge.

If she has any Morgan Wallen/Kane Brown scraps on the album…now those might smash

It’s honestly not melodic enough for modern country radio. They can play it but I don’t see this particular track doing numbers there.
