This will do nothing but hurt UMG artists especially the lesser known ones that rely on Tiktok for promotion.

let's be real, Tiktok is the new thang

UMG is not thinking this through

This is just going to make songs by indie or small label artists blow up. Tiktok is about content creation not music streaming, when you take away some songs people will find another song to use.

Most major artists depend on TikTok in this day and age including Taylor and Drake.

Pulling their music will definitely hurt them. They would not have had their recent hits without the vitality on TikTok (which happens from allowing their music and not taking down audios due to copywriting)

Drake does not need Tik Tok lmaoo

They removed it already :rip:

A good explanation about what it’s going on and why UMG is fighting for

This detail of UMG's open letter shocked me:

The indirect revenue they get from exposure was not accounted for. This is a significant lapse in judgement on their part.

Someone’s getting fired in a few weeks’ time.

Thank God they only represent half of Mariah's career.

8 studio albums - Sony

6 studio albums - UMG

1 studio album - Virgin /EMI (but Mariah fully own Glitter herself now).

Sucks for Obsessed though but at least we got Xmas

Maybe this leads to tiktok demise so it's a win

I’m in favor of this decision. Pay musicians. They do not want free promo they want a check.

Exactly. Rare to be on the record label's side, but in this case, they're the ones actually paying the musicians.

oh so it's not all music? well that's good for Tom since he was planning to do a single tease on twitter :suburban:

less mainstream would make people forced to use his music

idk if it’s a coincidence but i realized today that there was so much more sped up songs due to that lol

they dont give a sht about musicians pay. singers actually benefit from the tiktok promo as that might lead to better ticket sales.

in some ways this means they'll have to actually help out their smaller artists with promo now and not only order them to **** out 20 TikToks a day and hope one of them goes viral

plus this opens doors for indie/smaller labels artists to be discovered by the GP

honestly this kinda slays :suburban:
