Charlie Puth - Attention (2017) I've always been a casual supporter of Charlie Puth. I'm definitely not on @Insanity's level of support, but music wise I know he has an ear for production. He struck gold with Attention and it's his best single, hands down. Thanks for the shout out Attention isn't his best single though Id have to go with How Long or Done For Me. Regardless, Voicenotes is his magnum opus as of now. Hopefully CP4 he will bring back the quality that made VN special
Mr. Loco Posted December 20, 2023 Posted December 20, 2023 Tbh I was a bit dissapointed by 1989FTV tracks... as you said, that position is deserving for S***! making the bed is a stand-out from Guts, nice having it here
MusicLoverDude Posted December 21, 2023 Author Posted December 21, 2023 MLD's Best of 2023 70 - 61 70. Taylor Swift - I Can See You We have reached our first Speak Now vault track. I really liked the video for this one and the homage to the original era. That being said, this song is also nice too. It goes on a bit too long and I can understand why it was cut from the original album, but still, I vibe with this when in the right mood. 69. Post Malone - Overdrive Another song from Posty appearing on this countdown. This promo single honestly goes off when I'm in the mood, usually late at night like it is right now when I'm updating this. It's chill and after a crazy day this ironically allows me to wind down. 68. Troye Sivan - Rush This one took me awhile to get into. I didn't like it at first but I mean, it grew on me. "it's so good, it's so good" that was the part that ultimately won me over. 67. NewJeans - SuperShy Another track that grew on me a bit and turned out to be a lot of fun. I casually think NewJeans is cute and fun so I'm not opposed to hearing more from them in the future. 66. Bonnie McKee - Hot City I'm glad Bonnie decided to rerecord that album from 2013 we never got. Screw Epic for how they treated her back then. She released a couple bops this year and this is the first of the two making it on my list. WE NEED THE ALBUM BONNIE! 65. ILLENIUM f. Jxdn - Lifeline I'll be honest, I don't think any of these ILLENIUM songs were singles but the three collabs that I listened to this year that made this list are still good and deserve to be here. The first of these is with jxdn. This track is a great mix of EDM and pop punk. Literally heaven for me. 64. Tori Kelly - cut Was genuinely shocked to see we got new Tori Kelly this year. Was even more shocked when she made a track that didn't sound like some boring HAC song or a gospel song. But this Say My Name/Like a Boy-esque song went off for a moment with me. 63. Olivia Rodrigo - All-American ***** One of my favorites on GUTS. This song has Blink 182 production meets grunge all over it and I live for it. So yeah, this was a slay. 62. Ashnikko - You Make Me Sick Ever been screwed over by someone you thought was a friend, and treated like garbage by them, over and over and over again until you just snap at them or you just end up melting down and lashing out? This is the song for you. I can't tell you how BADLY some people have ****** me over in the past couple years and I WISH I had a song like this to vent out to when the events that inspired me to relate to this song was going on. The intensity of the song matches the intensity of my rage. Seriously, this song is theraputic. 61. Taylor Swift - Innocent (Taylor's Version) Over the years, Innocent has been the song I revisited the most from Speak Now. So I was especially ready for this song when Speak Now TV came out this year. Even though she wrote this song with Kanye West in mind, the lyrics of this song never directly referenced the situation and the lyrics at the end of the day have held up incredibly well, and here's why: This song is about not beating yourself up for the mistakes you make or have made. It's also about self-forgiveness. Over the past two years, I felt like I had truly hit rock bottom mentally. Simply put - I left my hometown in 2019, and I landed in a new one just a few months right before COVID hit. I spent 2020 socially isolated in a town I didn't know - and when I finally found a new job and started meeting new people through it, I basically got stabbed in the back and also made some bad mistakes along the way and felt like I ****** up and couldn't really connect with people again where I lived and all the friends I did have were in counties or states away by this point. I truly felt alone, I felt like I failed in multiple ways. I felt like I failed myself. I felt like I failed my Mom. Then my Dad passed away on top of that and then had to put my dog down after that too. I was basically left to pick up the pieces from how I felt mentally last year and the years before. And I kept returning to this song, because this song felt like a glimmer of hope that I could turn myself back around & redeem myself, no matter how long it took. So, this song became my go-to for all the re-recordings. While I'm still in the process of working on myself, it's been over a year since all the drama went down and all the tragic things. I managed to hold on and just focus on myself - I still have my job - I still have my Mom's support, I know this city a lot better now and go out to the movies and the beach when I can, I'm getting my hair cut again every few months, and while I don't really have too many friends down here, I have made some. I joined some online gaming leagues and communities outside of here, and this summer I essentially began my ATRL comeback with me joining almost every tournament I could and participate in whatever musical chairs games I could as well. So, yeah, this is what Innocent means to me and why I chose to include it in my Top 100. 1
JGibson Posted December 21, 2023 Posted December 21, 2023 Innocent (Taylor's Version) + cut + I Can See You (Taylor's Version) (From The Vault)
ATRL Moderator Tsareena Posted December 21, 2023 ATRL Moderator Posted December 21, 2023 rush, all american bitch, supershy
Mr. Loco Posted December 21, 2023 Posted December 21, 2023 I can see you is a bop, I feel it could've smashed hard on the early 10s, I feel the reason it was left out of the original is because it has so different vibes. Rush is a full bop
ATRL Moderator Legend E Posted December 22, 2023 ATRL Moderator Posted December 22, 2023 The story regarding Innocent Hope you're doing better! I Can See You is a nice inclusion. The video was horrible tho
potent Posted December 22, 2023 Posted December 22, 2023 Rush is my favorite this set Overdrive and I Can See You
Alldeezy Posted December 22, 2023 Posted December 22, 2023 YESSS Happy to see that jxdn collab I admit thats probably my favourite from the album I Can See You + Rush
TheWayWeWere Posted December 23, 2023 Posted December 23, 2023 Rush AAB is literally one of my faves from SOUR and wow, your story about Innocent touched me a lot. I've been in a similar situation myself and I still can't really say that I'm perfectly fine. But I'm sure you will!
MusicLoverDude Posted December 24, 2023 Author Posted December 24, 2023 MLD's Best of 2023 60 - 51 60. Post Malone - Chemical Posty's final song of this Best of finally arrives. Chemical grew on me pretty quickly and it's interesting to see how Posty basically made a relaxing pop rock album and...sadly everyone just decided to ditch him. This era deserved better but at least I liked Chemical a lot and I can listen to it late at night when I feel like it. 59. Nicki Minaj, Ice Spice & Aqua - Barbie World This one took a bit to get into compared to the other Barbie tracks. But once I got into it, it went off. Just wish it was longer. 58. Doja Cat - Agora Hills This particular Doja track is still growing on me, but I like it. And i like that she drags incels here. 57. Ashnikko f. Ethel Cain - Dying Star I was not expecting this to make my list. But after getting into Ashnikko's You make me sick and Ethel's American Teenager, I was naturally interested in this collab when I heard it in a SongPop list I was working on. Once I heard the full song, I was sold. Ashnikko and Ethel both sound great. And the production is just very atmospheric. Perfect for night time. 56. Ice Spice & Nicki Minaj - Princess Diana The other big Ice Spice/Nicki collab we got this year. Pure fire, but mainly Nicki's verse. 55. Doja Cat - Paint The Town Red Yeah, this song is still growing on me too. But I mean, it's a nice little villain song. Pure fire. Frankly this could have been my theme song for my judging style on Ultimate Tabs or how "manic" people accused me of being during my jury days on Survivor this season. (Hi @Yvess, hi @stupidjock, hi @Element, hi @Kylie Verzosa, hi @ZORBIT, hi @Titsanny, @gardendreams, hi @Seffers, hi @Aurora, hi @blackoutbaby, hi @Dessy, hi @Aurora, hi @EnterTheAttic, hi @Armani?, hi @fiercE, hi @Alldeezy, hi @Legend E, hi @Devon Robot) and maybe IRL too in some situations, but not really because I ain't actually evil. I'm too much of a Capricorn. I painted the tiaras and the island red still though. Anyways, BOP, still growing on me or it would have been higher. 54. Taylor Swift - Long Live (Taylor's Version) One more Speak Now TV track is sneaking in. This one being more on the uplifting side. This mainly started getting replay from me because...as you know, I'm turning 30 in a few weeks. There are a lot of memories I want to make a reel with and tag people in...something sentimental. Watching this play in the end credits of The Eras Tour film just influenced my love for this version more. It actually feels a lot more anthemic 13 years later (how fitting). So, likely an early January reel that I look forward to putting together. So yes, this deserves to be here too. 53. Nathan Dawe x Joel Corry x Ella Henderson - 0800 Heaven This little UK bop got a little play from me this summer. Had I played it more, it would have been a lot higher. But, still, a bop. 52. Switch Disco f. Ella Henderson - REACT Ella low-key went off this year with her dance collabs. She just has a great voice for it and so two of her collabs made my list. 51. Kesha - Fine Line A very unique song by our now-free-from RCA pop girl. A lot of respect for her here. I relate a lot to it actually. 1

TheWayWeWere Posted December 24, 2023 Posted December 24, 2023 Agora Hills PTTR is freaking grower, I didn't get into it like in 2 months since its release
