i think the director of the Houdini video also posted backstage photos in the stories on insta saying the he was proud of everyone for working so well “consider the short amount of time and special conditions” so it does seem like it was a rush job that got everyone by surprise.

 

Proud of Dua for making such a hard decision thinking of the world situation and the well being of everyone. Excited for the video and for it to be released in a better context.

 

As a smart man once said: a delayed product is eventually good, a rushed one is forever destined to be bad.

It makes no sense. Like.... why movies with violence and explosions are ok to be released but not music videos... It's art... like, stop confusing art and reality. She should have released the music video.

Yeah we all knew that first week was iffy. Some stans here were so gung ho that it's not because of Palestine. Which was uh weird to say since promo was sooo silent after the first teasers dropped, except for Dua strictly posting links about it on her IG stories. But I'm pretty shook that the first single could really have been Training Season instead. Inchresting.

It's weird but I do think Houdini would have been more appreciated by the fans as a 2nd single. It's like Physical in the sense that it is darker sounding than what the lead would sound (guessing Training Season is a little more lighter in mood and sound despite the description of the video lol)

After the recent news about Training Season I am convinced that they only released Hitdini to hold us over since they already had started to tease the era and they are planning to go full force on TS in end of January / early February.

 

Hitdini is doing exceptional though for a buzz single

Not really, the war had just broke out when Houdini was announced/teased. It could have escalated and become something much larger which could be terrible for her. Thankfully it kind of stalled and seems a little bit more under control, even if it’s still an awful situation for everyone.

In a context of so many possibilities it was the right decision to make.

It being a last minute substitute shoved onto the pitch to play unprepared and out of position, because the original first choice star striker pulled a hamstring in the warm up, (so to speak) would make an awful lot else make sense.

 

If they hadn’t rehearsed it live (?) -so no performances. Original promo pulled (?) - so the weird three small fan parties circumnavigation of the globe, interspersed with holidays and DTN stuff. Etc Etc.

 

Terrible luck if this is the case, but probably the right decision ( hard to be definitive when we’ve not seen the video/lyrics) to pull it given the circumstances.

 

Still begs the question why not just be up front about the fact there was a possible issue and tell everyone stuff was delayed till 2024?  Might’ve been better than going off half cock, as seems to be the case.

One thing i love about her is that she actually kept her promise to start the new era before 2024 by releasing the lead single with a music video, even though it felt rushed and underwhelming to some of us
