single Dua Lipa - "Houdini"

I suspect the rollout will be similar to FN, where the lead single was released on Halloween, the album was announced in December, and promo really picked up in the New Year until its release in March. I am personally not a fan of the long wait, but it worked for FN and judging by the release date of Houdini it seems like Warner might be trying to replicate that rollout.

Heard it on the radio today. Idk I just don't vibe with it. DSN was SUCH a step-up from her debut. This one doesn't feel like the start of a new step in her career to me.

A repeat of FN's promo is a mistake IMO. Puts more pressure on DL3 to meet/exceed FN. The music scene switched up a lot since 2020.

She’ll probably perform Houdini with 2nd or 3rd single on SNL during the Album week or prior, no award shows in January. Really don’t understand the promo schedule. Her 1st performance will probably be a grammy medley with Dance the night.

Also, if Barbie is pushing DTN for award shows and oscars, she might as well be busy performing them on these shows….

I think we should consider holding a candlelit vigil outside the offices of Warners in New York, Los Angeles and London. Our strategic presence would act as an inducement to each respective regional promotions team to do their job correctly and as they appear unable to do so, we should use the vigil as a smokescreen to sneak in our closest regional Warner building and take over the work station of the actual staff, get on the Warner’s Intranet and course correct the errors they have made with the “Houdini” campaign and get its promotion back on track.

What makes Dua Lipa stand out or sets her apart is her amazing voice. The chorus in Houdini does not really showcase what makes her special. Also I feel the production of the song overshadows her. As a new fan I am a little worried since from the interview she says her new album will be more focused on production/lyrics than vocals

The issue is, there's no promo opportunities to do that. There was for sure plans to premiere a performance at the EMAs but that got cancelled, so was replaced by the disappearing act promo on social media. Other opportunities are SNL that is probably fully booked and the BBMA that were a cheap mess no one watched.

In 2019 she did Graham Norton in the U.K., the EMAs ( ok a pass on that this year), the Voice USA, the Voice Germany, and Jimmy Fallon all before Xmas. All still going I think.

Watch this rising after Christmas, hitting top 5 and everyone will be like "OMG i love this song it's a big step up from DSN etc etc".

Anw i ADORE Houdini and that's what matters.
