Thanks for foreshadowing exactly what y’all are going to use as an excuse if this song ends up taking off in January. There’s always an excuse when she smashes.

Hun, I’m wasn’t shading the song, I want this to succeed :rip:

SNL is best done when you have two songs you can promote. This album era only has one so far.

She doesn’t want a hit this time around, indie era!

Houdini and dtn wouldn’t have been too bad.

I mean I’m not saying it because I want her to get a hit, she’s doing perfectly fine, but I want to see her bring this song to life… I love performances. Probably because I grew up seeing popstars performing songs in so many different ways and was always fun to watch

i really wonder why ODH hate dua so much :rip: like she’s literally the least problematic, down to earth and sweetest pop girl out there.

I see a lot of swifties hate her. I’m honestly confused as to why?

True but it is best to save SNL for closer to album release when you have multiple singles to promote.

They don’t like to see there’s a popgirl that has to offer more than others. Simple as that.

swifties will always have some deep personal issues bc they think Taylor is the best thing out there when in fact she isn’t (and they know it)

Yeah I get that, but tbf there’s many other shows to perform plus by the time she releases the album, the awards season will come. She could’ve done snl now to build up some momentum.

As much as I like this song, I still feel like during some listens I feel like it’s missing a something! The big moments comes in at the end of the song. It needs something in the beginning , imo!

This song is doing more than fine, the ODHs in that one thread kiking and getting their life because it dropped a few positions just look stupid :deadbanana4:

In fact ODHs always look stupid so nothing new there :giraffe:

the intro sounds like Thriller by MJ and the verses are really good, the chorus is just not really smashing

but knowing Dua she can easily make another smash easily

Same, I feel like I should love this song, but something about it is lacking. Listening to it is like sleeping with a hot guy, but you never get off.

yep, it's very weird. if I remember well it happened when dua dropped future nostalgia and taylor's latest album was lover at the time and they felt threatened.

This song has not aged well for me. It’s not that it’s bad it just doesn’t really go anywhere for me. I don’t see this being a hit either. DSN was ear candy from first listen. This song just doesn’t do it for me. I wish she had chosen a different song. This sounds like it would be better left as an album track.

Dont Start Now was instant ear candy because it had that vintage pop disco sound that just suits duas voice and melody perfectly. The bass waves intro on Houdini might also be offputting for some casual listeners. I think that if Houdini had more of a italo, disco club production it would have been more instant and also had a better chart performance so far,

The song and the melody is great, but as you said, as I said and as many people said, there is no progression. Verses are too short, its too repetitive and lack climax at the end.
