Do you think David Bowie was more successful than Adele, Justin Bieber, Beyoncé, Rihanna & The Weeknd in 2016 ?

I don't need to think it. The IFPI confirmed it for us. They are the only official third-party source for global stats and charts. So you can keep denying it all you want, it won't change the fact that yes, Bowie was the 2nd most successful artist of 2016, only topped by Drake who was the most streamed artist of that year. So it looks like it is possible to rank high on IFPI's artist chart with mediocre physical sales if only you are enough of a streaming force.

Dragging people willingly purchasing copies of an album when Rihanna had to give out 1 million copies for free in order to fraud a Platinum cert for ANTI just years after nobody wanted to buy Rated R for the price of a stick of gum :rip:

That 1M didn’t contribute towards Billboard and was removed from the RIAA count 😂😂😂

Yeah we all know why Taylor sells so many albums. She manipulates her fans into thinking they’ll form a clock if they collect all the random variants or sometimes she uses emotional tactics to sell them “evermore feels lonely at the store”

It’s the same people buying the album over and over again. I saw a video of a swiftie taking a cart full of Lover Cd’s home.

ANTI was #32 on the year end charts in the UK but ended up as her third best selling era in the country. The same goes for a lot of those countries.

That 1M did not count towards Billboard, but it did count towards a fraudulent Platinum cert on release day until everyone and their mother dragged it :rip:

1989: 10M

Fearless: 10M

Red: 7.3M

Taylor Swift: 6.7M

Mind you, she had 1 standard version and a Target exclusive deluxe for all of these albums sans Fearless which had a re-release. And her debut wasn't even released outside the USA until 2011 :deadbanana:

Now compare that with

GGGB: 9.1M (with a re-release and eight singles)

Loud: 6.6M

Talk That Talk: 3.8M

Unapologetic: 3.7M

:dies:

David Bowie is a real artist with classics in his discography not a radio fodder singer like Rihanna.

And yet Anti failed to make the UK year in any other year either :deadbanana4:

"Top cerified eras" is meaningless if you are comparing albums from different eras of music consumption

If only taylor had classics in her discography that were known outside of her fanbase :deadbanana4:

which is why equivalent album sales exist to account for different eras of music consumption and certifying bodies use them :deadbanana2:

That's not what you were using when saying Anti is the third biggest Rihanna era. Equivalent album sales is what's used in th UK album charts and Anti had a very bad performance there.

taylor's discography must be boring because she released an album today i believe yet her fans are perched in here, going back and forth over a poll where their fave was defeated by a landslide :rip:

why is this thread still going when the result speaks for itself

IMG_7435.thumb.gif.67440528746afd845cbf8

Because the swifties are still in denial about the results and so we have to contend with pages upon pages about Anti sales in the U.K. and Rihanna's album sales in Australia in a "who has more classics thread"

That's how you know the poor things are hurt by the results. Your fave just dropped an album but you're perched in here instead jumping from one (off-)topic to another trying to get a lick in. How sad

Saying this knowing ANTI isn't even multiplatinum in the UK after nearly 8 years :rip:

You are combining Anti songs and album cerifications whoch makes the comparison wrong. The album cert already count the tracks streams

Anti is only Platinium in the UK and only reached that milestone in December 2019 :deadbanana4:

For reference Reputation, Lover and Midnights all achieved 2xPlatinium in a shorter timeframe than Anti :deadbanana4:
