I think a lot of the confusion comes from Rihanna fans living in Europe and thinking that she is just as big in the rest of the world.

Except Rihanna is very much bigger than Taylor in Europe, Africa, the Middle East, Massive in the US, Canada etc. Taylor only has the edge with Asia

Uh that's 2 versions (original, instrumental) :lmao:

Nobody cares about digital covers lmao she didn't release physical CDs

Those are FIVE separate versions available to purchase :deadbanana: Do you not know how to count now?

Taylor has the edge in the US, Asia and Oceania :sorry:

I’m not sure what metric you’re using for the US when Rihanna is the highest certified female artist in the country + her superbowl was viewed by 121M Americans. Taylor is a bigger touring force there though

Idk why you’re arguing about versions when there were 60 different ways to buy MIDnights

Given that her albums always had much stronger longevity than Rihanna despite more spread out releases.

Probably at least three times those of Rihanna if she stopped at her 8th album Folklore.

Rihanna had less streams than Taylor Swift in 2019. With 8 albums each Taylor compeletely obliterates Rihanna career in all metrics.

Taylor classics are what allows her to have the biggest tour of all time while Rihanna still struggles to sell out US arenas.

Are you sure

Is she? In 2016, when Rihanna released Anti she was only the 8th biggest gloval artist of that year despite the massive advantage of having Anti being released in January of that year :deadbanana4:

Taylor managed to rank #1 in the same list with one less album in 2019 and that was supposed to be her flop year :deadbanana4:

Except she doesn’t have any classics, just fanbase driven #1s. It’s the same 2M swifties having her discography on repeat. That’s like saying BTS has classics when no one in the GP knows any of their songs.

And we all saw how ANTI turned out to be despite having a botched debut. It literally moved 40M certified units in the US alone towards the end of last decade. Did reputation and lover achieve that?

@Raspberries the forgotten messes on Spotify Australia this week:

#52 Good Girl Gone Bad (+2)

#95 ANTI (+9)

#100 Unapologetic (=)

#134 Loud (+7)

:rip: and she's not lifting a finger. Hang it up!

Oh wow! Congrats to ANTI (2016) for managing to chart below albums like Nevermind (1991), My Beautiful Dark Twist Fantasy (2010), Californication (1999) and Loose (2006)

Also a big congrats goes to Unapologetic (2012) for managing to chart below the albums above and Elvis 30 #1 Hits (2002)

Not to mention Loud (2010) managing to chart below those above as well as The Heist by Macklemore, Lungs (2009), Meteora (2003), Dolly (2009), Elvis (Fool) [1973] and Appetite For Destruction (1987)

ANTI and Unapologetic will surely be multiplatinum by 2045 :clap3:

Rihanna also failed to make an entry in the top 10 global artists of 2018. I guess all these certified units weren't enough to make up for the lack of global success.

When Taylor released Lover in 2019, she was #1.

Yeah that IFPI list that gives or at least used to give way too much weight to physical album sales ...hence David Bowie ranking at #2 in 2016 lmao

There were 5 vinyl variants and a standard and 3AM version available to purchase digitally :deadbanana:

None of this is as bad as selling an entire new album for $0.99 and debuting at #4 on the BB200 though so congrats to Rihanna :clap3:

So you think Rihanna is bigger than Taylor Swift in America? :deadbanana:

Stop using just certifications. Taylor's certifications haven't been properly updated in ages. For example, Anti Hero is still at 2X Platinum when it just crossed 6M this week :toofunny3:

This won’t change the fact that there were approximately 60 ways to buy MIDnights across various platforms.

What do you think Taylor's streaming numbers would look like if she hadn't released any album or toured in 8 years ?

Here the Navy goes again questioning IFPI. You guys are struggling so hard accepting their official and factual rankings.

It's not our fault if people refuse to touch a Rihanna album even at 0.99$ :deadbanana4:

It makes perfect sense why she started giving them out for free :deadbanana4:

And it smashed hard. It is the best selling album in pure sales of the decade and has already outsold Music of the Sun (2005), A Girl Like Me (2006), Rated R (2009), Loud (2010), Talk That Talk (2011), Unapologetic (2012) and ANTI (2016) here :deadbanana:

Congrats. She only had to sell 60 versions of the album to achieve that.

Do you think David Bowie was more successful than Adele, Justin Bieber, Beyoncé, Rihanna & The Weeknd in 2016 ?

Dragging people willingly purchasing copies of an album when Rihanna had to give out 1 million copies for free in order to fraud a Platinum cert for ANTI just years after nobody wanted to buy Rated R for the price of a stick of gum :rip:

I love how you all conveniently choose to ignore the fact that Rihanna sold 35M albums (4.1M average)… and she did that without putting out 60 versions of the same album across multiple formats.
