I dont think Taylor would push a song that was already a single. If she was really trying to make Style go #1, she would've done a version with Harry Styles or something to generate hype.

The thing is, 1989 is so singles heavy, even more so than Red, and the singles [IKYWT (TV) and WANEGBT (TV)] won out in the end over the vault tracks. This is one where you keep it simple. One of the singles (SIO, BS, or Style) TV should be the single here.

I don’t think it’ll be smart. These singles are way too known already, and it’s not like a love-story situation in which the vocals and production will be massively improved. I think the smartest choice for her it to choose a killer vault track and get it over with.

Certainly possible. HITSDD’s TEA for Lover was 4,659, which means that the total sales for the album’s tracks is 46,590. We can assume that of those sales went to Cruel Summer.

The prediction two days ago only had it doing like 15K or something. The new versions sold insanely well (which was evidenced by how quickly they went to the top of iTunes). 50K is definitely a reasonable estimate and it could be even higher.

 

HITS rarely overpredicts TEA as well. (They have ~45K, which is basically a lower bound).

Karma just never really connected, like Anti-Hero and Cruel Summer did. It was lucky to even get a #2 peak, as it took advantage of a very weak charting period.
