Would Lorde and Lana Have Been Impeded If Sky Released Music?

Glad to see the remaining 4 Sky stans are still alive and breathing, even when they’re delusion as usual. The drought has been tough I see.  :clap3:

Lorde and Lana had their albums out before Sky and her release didn't seem to affect them much. Perhaps if she had released a follow up, it could have made things more difficult for Halsey. But even she got signed in 2014 when there was still a risk that Sky would be releasing more music in the following years.

If anything, things would have been worse for some established artists with outdated music, who had been relying on gimmicks for headlines.

Sky was never big enough to impede either of them to begin with

Its important to remember that Sky’s most acclaimed song “Everything is Embarrassing” was released before Lorde and Lana blew up in the mainstream. In January 2014, stories were circling about Sky hiring Troy Carter following his departure from managing Gaga. I think whatever went wrong with her career might’ve been linked to this. If Sky had Capitol’s full backing and the help of Troy she definitely would’ve been able to compete with Lorde and Lana. Her songs have that same viral potential that Lana’s have.

Lana and Lorde were above and beyond the most prolific female artists to come out of the Tumblr alt pop era, no one would've taken their places dddd. Maybe if Sky played nice with her label/there weren't so many issues, she might've been able to occupy a similar space as Halsey right now.

Though, maybe there's a world where she was consistent enough to be able to balance acting and music, and she could've been like an alt pop version of say Hailee Steinfeld or even a Sabrina Carpenter.

If Sky had Capitol’s support, Troy Carter as her manager, her high fashion connections, and acting career she could’ve easily been as relevant as them.

Everything is Embarrassing and Royals came out officially just months apart in 2013 and Born to Die blew up in 2012 before EIE was ever even heard. She was always hipster buzzy but she never had a moment with the GP like Lorde and Lana did, so unless she had some crossover hit up her sleeve we never heard, she was never going to be able to compete with those two.

Everything is Embarrassing and Royals were 2012 songs. Everything is Embarrassing had some sort of online pre-release in August 2012 and then released as part of Sky's Ghost EP in October 2012, with Royals coming with the Love Club EP  in November 2012.
