Respectfully, with that avi, you should be staying out of conversation of sums amounting to more than a medium slice of pizza.

Actually, "that avi" is interested in owning her music instead of selling it.

The topic at hand is American recording artist and nun-murderer Katherine Hudson. I don’t understand the content of your post as it relates to the discussion?

I would expect you to be in Kim’s thread since you love to discuss her.Β Thanks for sharing your thoughtsΒ :)

OT: I don’t think it’s a waste of money, firework is used for everything Β :rip:

It shows how these a listers are desperate for more cash. How much more do you need? Wasn’t she making 25 mill a year on American idol + whatever she makes from her Vegas show. That’s not a sustainable salary? Crazy

You know it’s her whole catalog and not only the tracks, right?

You guys love to throw around the names of other artists any time I post. I don't understand this. Can you please explain your logic? Walk me through what exactly this comment means?

Β

Let's please stay on topic, which is the sale of Katy Perry's back catalogue. I don't know how Kim Petras relates to this topic. Does she have new music out?Β

She hasn't. She sold just her royalties fee which was probably like 20 maybe 25% of the total sound recording revenue. Capitol still owns her masters.Β

Good for her tbh, 14yr old me would probably think she's a sellout for doing that, but at the end of the day her career (and all of our faves') is as much about business & money as artistic integrity. And now that she's got a family of her own it makes sense to take the opportunity and secure that bag

Makes me wonder though if we'll see more of those deals in the future with other big names.

This is something usual and it doesn't mean she gave up on music or she needs cash. The Taylor Swift drama was bc she and the other guy have personal issues.

Usually this gaves artist money and even though she sells her masters, she will continues to make money with them.

3 Questions?
I'm confused. When an artist sells their catalog, do the owners of that catalog also gain ownership of the vault tracks - the unreleased records?Β :giraffe:
Is this situation good or bad for Katheryn? Does it mean she will receive no future money from her past hits, and her grandchildren won't receive anything either?

With ownership of the entire catalog, the owners can do whatever they want with those songs??

not a bad deal tbh…

nnnnn at all the people attempting to drag this, imagine being offered almost a quarter billion dollars for 10 year old albums that most music people totally wrote off, why on earth would she not take a deal like this. She can still tour / perform these songs, that is probably the easiest $225m in history.

This forum is full of weirdos. Imagine trying to drag a pop star who just made 225 MILLION while you sit behind your computer screen in your shared housing with 6 roommates just to afford it.Β

Β

Like, maybe spend your time being less of a bitter ***** and more time focusing on your own life. Or is it bitterness that no one would offer that amount of money to the person in your avi? Like what's the deal?
