She has a pretty high amount of streams on Spotify for her singles for someone who hasn’t had a Top 10 hit since 2014, a lot of her peers in that same situation would not be getting streamed like she is. Majority of her Top 10s are still getting 500K streams/day or more (besides E.T., POM & WUIV basically lol). BTW idk why but WUIV has a shockingly low amount of recurrent streams per day especially compared to her other top 10s.

Nonetheless, she was definitely still making bank on her discography and probably will for the rest of her life.

Eh, I doubt it or she would not have sold. Streaming does not bring in a lot of money and the money is does bring in has to be split among the labels, writers, producers, etc. At the end of the day, this deal brought in more money than her discog would have regardless.

Who is her business manager because She could've easily gotten at least 600 million.

Do they know Katie's musical reach. 15 to 20 years from now, her musical catalog is going to see a HUGE resurgence in popularity thanks to her carefully curated selection of anthematic pop hits. Her music is gonna be played everywhere, commercials, sports arenas, and especially in movies.

a bad deal. 👎

I think that's a good deal :clap3:

How are they going to recoup all that money? I'm not aware how these things work but how many years and billions of streams will it take for the company to make a profit?

This is smart because she just got a ton of money now instead of making money from streams over the years. She's set for life, she doesn't need the stream income.

If her daily streams and sales don't decrease it will take up to 50 years to return that money. Who is buying that? :deadbanana2:

Have you ever heard of a term called licensing? It makes a lot of money. Mama let’s research.

Get money :clap3:

I don't know what this means for her music career in the future but I cannot shame her for getting 225m, I would have done the same.

If she put those 250M back in investment, it can easily grow to more than 600M in 15 to 20 years :celestial5:

It feels like a low number to be honest. Say what you want but her first 3 albums are forever

Wasn't Litmus founded just last year? What would happen if they go out of business in a couple years? Would they sell the catalog to someone else?

Respectfully, with that avi, you should be staying out of conversation of sums amounting to more than a medium slice of pizza.

Let’s look at positive side. This doesn’t mean she can’t perform her music and it gives her a chance to be introduced to new audiences and future generations in films, commercials, series etc. This means her music will live on more versus if she hadn’t do this as the company will push her songs to get their return on investment. Legend in the making

This also means they can sell some songs to x rated industries and she has a couple of songs that could fit the profile (ikag, dressing up, roar etc) but hey if a kid in 2030 will catch a line -you’re gonna hear me roooar while watching something and look up after- it’s a win.

the only thing that is somewhat sad is that this kind a looks like a last goodby as she doesn’t need to make or do anything more. Eventual records contract she can just fulfill by making best of, christmas cover ep and other non event things

Okay dumb question but if she sold her stake in her masters recording royalties and her publishing rights, how does she still make money off her catalog? Or does she not anymore?

omg it really is curtains for her :deadbanana4:

But that's assuming there's gonna be demand. They've obviously done their research but that's still a shot in the dark.

The topic at hand is American recording artist and nun-murderer Katherine Hudson. I don’t understand the content of your post as it relates to the discussion?
