Aethereal Posted September 4, 2023 Posted September 4, 2023 (edited) Honestly it was started by other stan bases. Given that Beyonce is doing 50%-60% (not bad compared to other fields) of Taylor's tour numbers and also given that she is black and a very talented performer, it was a great opportunity to throw rocks to Taylor for being "basic and white". Then some Monsters were using Taylor against Beyonce. (the daily Spotify streaming threads could only last so far) Edited September 4, 2023 by Aristotle

Which member of the Hive wants to be associated with something so mid?? Even in this thread Swifties we’re trying to pin Taylor as just as talented as Beyoncé. Like be serious rn. Someone wants it be a group project but it’s definitely not the hive nnn Y’all project so hard it’s hilarious tbh. Edited September 4, 2023 by suneclipse121 1
Arrows Posted September 4, 2023 Posted September 4, 2023 Yes, they‘re both genius artists with legendary discographies.
Namie-Knowles Posted September 4, 2023 Posted September 4, 2023 (edited) White Supremacy on the first page is insane lmao. And now racism doesn't exist because POC are popular?! Then pretending that Hives causing the conflict this is sick as hell. This forum is a hoot sometimes. I'm laughing hard as hell. Edited September 4, 2023 by Namie-Knowles 1 2

I’m Olivia Popeing this thing. Get me representatives from both the Swifties and the Beyhive and we’ll sign a peace treaty It's only "boring"when the person you hate wins against the person you love by a gigantic margin. If Taylor ever underperforms you'll be singing a different tune. Taylor and Beyonce are the top two women in the game. The Hive should be happy with what Beyonce is, ie a legend who is still relevant, instead of forcing an agenda about what she isn't, ie bigger than Taylor or even at her level. 2

She was always singing about female empowerment and African American experience, none of which I relate to since I’m a white European twink. Of course there were songs and themes I would relate to, especially on her previous albums. However, her music never seemed to be meant for me in a way that I can say that her music as a whole represents me. With Renaissance it’s different. I connect to that on a deeper level (because I’m gay duh). I was always able to feel connection to artists like Lady Gaga or Lana Del Rey, because we had a lot of things (feelings) in common. But I always looked up to Beyoncé for being so fierce and powerful, and yet so kind. It was evident that she stands up for issues that she’s passionate about. And she works so damn hard. I guess that’s the point of being inspired by someone. You learn from them how to do things you wish to be able to do. And I’ll be forever grateful to Beyoncé for helping me believe that I can do things and succeed, even though odds are not always in my favor. (I know that she doesn’t care about me and that she doesn’t know me. That’s how the things work. She’s not my friend.) I felt that we had that in common when I read about you being able to connect to African American artists in the way you can’t connect to your favorite artist. Maybe I’m wrong. But if I’m right, it just goes on to show how we’re all alike and that these gifts are pointless. We should look for things and feelings that we share and celebrate them. This is very interesting. BDAY is very gay and fem but from a black lens. Freakum dress is probably her gayest song ever..LMAO 1

But if I’m right, it just goes on to show how we’re all alike and that these gifts are pointless. We should look for things and feelings that we share and celebrate them. You’re exactly right — I connect with my “favorite” artists for the emotions they evoke in me, but there are artists from a cultural, social, and psychological standpoint that will resonate in a more intimate way with us because they have similar roots/upbringings. I don’t listen to Bey frequently but when I do, it just connects. I have always respected her power and poise and fierceness as well.. but that just wasn’t -me- or the message that connected with me, especially early on. Like you, though, I wasn’t that connected with Bey at first. Even though I’m black, growing up her messages of femininity and sexuality weren’t really that important to me as a young black male, especially one who hadn’t even begun a journey towards homosexuality yet. But around Self Titled, Lemonade, and especially The Gift, I of course become more aware of what it means to be black in America, and consequently was able to more thoroughly appreciate and experience the latter half of her catalogue. By Renaissance I felt I had really tapped into the love and joy and connection to my race more than ever before. And not only is it a celebration of blackness but of queer culture as well, so it’s a 2-for-1 special lol. So while I’m not a huge fan of Bey overall, her latest albums from 4 onwards + The Gift have definitely hit close to home. You’re absolutely right though that there’s a difference between our favorite artists versus the artists that have shared experiences. I’m inspired by Taylor, and I love her music with all my heart. But there’s artists that get what it was like for someone like me growing up and that art is gonna feel a lot more personal, in truly deep ways. I love that about music though. The endless possibilities of artistic expression allow for every experience and emotion under the sun to be explored 2

ScubaDive Posted September 4, 2023 Posted September 4, 2023 Is this because of the Kanye incident in 2009? That is the only interesting thing about this
nostalgic Posted September 4, 2023 Posted September 4, 2023 They need to collab à la Jay-Z & Linkin Park and end racism once and for all
4Real Posted September 4, 2023 Posted September 4, 2023 It's very one sided, yes. I'm sure most swifties either don't care or even like Beyoncé (ik i do), too bad her fans decided to constantly attack Taylor and us 3
Trent W Posted September 4, 2023 Posted September 4, 2023 (edited) They really have nothing to do with each other They are not from the same generation ot age group They are not peers They don’t do the same music genre One is a singer, the other is a songwriter One is a dancer, the other connects with acoustic lyrics with her base Their target demo is completely different They really couldn’t be more different This is by far the mist ridiculous stan war Also expecting Beyonce to pull Taylor’s numbers being a black woman is crazy. Peak Now Posted September 4, 2023 Posted September 4, 2023 I remember a while back someone started a thread on how Taylor and Beyoncé were two sides of the same coin; the former the more introspective side and the latter the more assertive side. I think that's broadly true and explains why it's hard to compare the two without coming off as dismissive of certain forms of music. 3

This fight started years ago. Beyoncé fans started being vicious towards Taylor on Twitter. The whole LWYMMD pose being a copy of Beyonce, they were the ones that incited Twitter against Taylor during the Kimye phone call cancelation, then they trended Mayo-chella when she performed with a marching band (which she had already done before during fearless). I'm not saying Swifties don't do the same, but I feel like Hive knows that them + sjw Twitter have been the biggest antis of anything-Taylor for years now. Don't forget that the last time they went head to head touring in the same year back in 2018 there was a big mess on twitter between the fanbases This isn't new at all, and acting like there's only ever been peace and harmony up to this point is disingenuous.
