Anyway, when tomorrow's sun rises, Taylor Swift will remain the biggest artist in the world. Cruel Summer is still aiming for that #1. 1989 is ready to return to the top 10. Her sales and streams remain unmatchable, and her record-breaking tour will keep on going and going. Her talent of being able to write a catchable hit song alone like Love Story but also be able to write an album like folklore will keep being praised by critics, from the past to the future. Hope those quick lil comments show you guys madness/anger/jealousy will make you feel better, I sincerely wish! How am I an OTH I been streaming My Tears Ricochet non-stop this week
FolkLover1989 Posted August 13, 2023 Posted August 13, 2023 I see OTH and some fandoms have found peace with DailyMail now 3

The Music Industry Posted August 13, 2023 Posted August 13, 2023 (edited) Anyway, the "afraid of backlash" thing applies to every big artist with a fanbase. Let's be rational here. The same thing could be said about any K-Pop act, or big western act. Let's not pretend as if Twitter wouldn't drag them to hell and back/try to paint a random reviewer as a racist if they give a bad review about Beyoncé, or as if K-Poppies wouldnt try to doxx a reviewer/paint him as xenophobic for giving a panned review to their favorite artist. The "backlash" problem is not exclusive to Taylor Swift in any way, so this article is funny. Edited August 13, 2023 by The Music Industry 11
Tusk Posted August 13, 2023 Posted August 13, 2023 Taylor is releasing music and touring. How is that overexposed? She's not on magazine covers, constantly on social media, or doing interviews. 1 1
Marianah Adkins Posted August 13, 2023 Posted August 13, 2023 Tbh stan culture is the reason why poptimism exists. Everyone is scared to get doxxed or cancelled for saying an opinion It is one thing to call out an opinion for its questionable bases (esp towards popgirls) but to entirely admonish a critic for saying his/her preferences, threatening him or calling him certain insults is just terrible for music criticism. 4

The problem is especially pronounced with artists with young and extremely online fans like Swift and BTS though so it’s not wrong to bring this up. 1
State of Grace. Posted August 13, 2023 Posted August 13, 2023 I mean the fanbase part is true and it applies to anyone with a crazy big cult following so....how is this a brand new information I don't really care about the rest, she's entitled to her wrong opinion and she doesn't have to like Taylor. "Taylor Swift is a wonderfully crafted marketing ploy and thats why I hate her!".

That is not the thing I'm discussing? I totally agree with it, but I actually can't see any relationship between this and the success of an artist? Audience listen to an artist's songs, if they like it, they will keep stream it and might try to discover more about this artist. This is forever the key to why an artist becomes popular, it's just that simple
Kimi Posted August 13, 2023 Posted August 13, 2023 Well I do believe her music is getting undeserving acclaim now, She made some albums that deserve to be acclaimed but also some that simply don't. In that sense she is a bit overrated. 1
mael Posted August 13, 2023 Posted August 13, 2023 Another day another Taylor hate thread and ironically further cements the fact that She isn’t overhyped. Know that @brazil

First, I don't know why you're assuming Taylor's fanbase, someone who has been in the industry for 17 years, is young. Sure, new younger people join her fanbase every year, but the critical mass of her fanbase are young adults between 18 and 30, and there's multiple studies that prove it. Second, no, it's not just Taylor and BTS. It's just more obvious because they are they have the 2 biggest stanbases in the world. I mean, literally a month ago a random guy on TikTok with like 2K followers went viral on Twitter (we're talking about tweets with 80K to 120K likes) receiving nonstop lashings and hate just for saying he wished Beyoncé had an opener on her tour and that he would've picked different songs to open the show Edited August 13, 2023 by The Music Industry 3
Headlock Posted August 13, 2023 Posted August 13, 2023 Not a TERF “contributor” for DailyMail, y’all are down bad 1 7
Blue Rose Posted August 13, 2023 Posted August 13, 2023 Well duh it’s so obvious. She always delivers the same brand of uninventive and undramatic Pop music that they always drag, and rightfully so. But somehow she gets 10s from critics 3 15
liam13 Posted August 13, 2023 Posted August 13, 2023 does she think music critics have the same power they used to have back in the days when the public had to buy cds or vinyl to listen to music cuz... anyways, another hit thread for miss overhyped and overrated swift 1
queenoftheclouds Posted August 13, 2023 Posted August 13, 2023 Well, the Speak Now Vault Songs lack some ballads like Dear John or Last Kiss. It was underwhelming

Raphy23 Posted August 13, 2023 Posted August 13, 2023 It’s not even the swifties overhyping her, it’s the GP. Where was everyone during the Rep tour??? 5
Trainwreck Posted August 13, 2023 Posted August 13, 2023 Not dailymail and the usual OTHs circlejerking in every Taylor thread as per usual

She still has plenty of teenage fans who engage in online harassment. Bffr 1
