Harry was 20 years old and the face of a boyband marketed primarily to straight young girls. There were boundaries to what he could do, but he was already doing stuff For years he wore clothes out of the "female" aisle, and it was weird for someone in his position to do that at that point, the three following photos are from 2014 Reveal hidden contents This one is from 2015 He rode his bike with a glittery golden helmet on in 2014 His 19th birthday in February 2013 He was compared to Victoria Beckham for that shirt, in a mocking tone Reveal hidden contents He used to get dragged for wearing floral patterns to red carpets because it men simply didn't do that in 2015 (and before anyone thinks I'm claiming that he was trendsetting or the first one to do it, no, there were plenty of men before him in the 70s and 80s and 90s, and then masculinity got resetted for some god forsaken reason, until the 80s straight men wearing crop tops was seen as normal, but even today a man in a crop top = gay, imagine back in 2015) This was in the worst dressed columns even though today it'd be in the best dressed ones 100% (and it was one of his first Alessandro Gucci looks, while he was still in 1D), 2015: He has never given a damn about masculinity/femininity or being perceived as masculine Hide contents He started painting his nails and taking it off before 1D gigs in 2013. This is a collage by a fan but lower right is his hand during a 1D signing, it had red nail polish on the edges (this was 2013), upper, middle. and lower left are both from 2014, he had clear top coat and one single nail painted yellow. Then in 2015 he started wearing red in one nail in each hand (upper and middle right) Hide contents This was in 2016 he had red nails for his first solo photoshoot with Another Man (can't find a pic but they were maroon/dark red) and then he wore black nail polish to the after party Hide contents He did very light pink nails towards the end of 2017 and it wasn't until 2018 when he started to paint his nails a ton of colors that were very showy. And to this day he gets comments about how feminine that is. Was he wearing dresses in 1D? No. But he NEVER cared about that sort of thing and ALWAYS had a quirky fashion. You think he woke up a solo artist and decided to fall head first into a dress? His fans know it's genuine because it's been slowly building up since he was 16 years old. It means zero about his sexuality, just leave him alone wearing whatever he wants. He isn't bothering anyone lmao I see no dresses and not even good sense of fashion... 2 1

Good to know I'm dealing with a troll who doesn't actually care about the topic at hand and wants an excuse to hate. Good news, you don't need one! Just hate without finding a woke agenda, like normal people do 1
Slap Posted August 12, 2023 Posted August 12, 2023 (edited) I’m not going to comment on Billy, but it’s ridiculous that it was a straight man instead of a real queer person. LGBTQIA+ folk have been simping for the fashion industry and propping it up behind the scenes for probably a century, we are worth more than constantly being used but not credited, always on the side never front and centre. It’s humiliating that a straight man gets it, especially one who is the living embodiment of the fact that the bar is so low for straight men that if they step slightly outside of the box they’ll be worshipped as groundbreaking and if anything make more money and find more success. For queer people it’s a completely different story and success is much harder to find, and if anything we’re punished for stepping outside of the stereotypical roles straight people want us to fit into. That said the major players in the fashion industry are a disgusting cesspool of abuse, trauma, eating disorders, sycophants and narcissists so it’s nothing to aspire to be part of anyway. idontdodrags Posted August 13, 2023 Posted August 13, 2023 is this really the best gimmick he could come up to keep his relevance (and his house)?
Life Savers Posted August 13, 2023 Posted August 13, 2023 He already brought this up and apologized for it. I know he's currently unemployed but there's Netflix, Hulu and the like to keep busy.
tshwark Posted August 13, 2023 Posted August 13, 2023 (edited) Whatever, now it’s really bizarre that Harry looks miserable, absent when he is wearing woman’s clothes. Edited August 13, 2023 by tshwark 1
newaespa Posted August 13, 2023 Posted August 13, 2023 Vogue only wants beautiful and nice looking people to be the first so his self entitled ass can gtfo 6

Kimbra Posted August 13, 2023 Posted August 13, 2023 The most annoying part about this Harry discourse is the straight women who always want to dictate queer mens reactions. 1 1 1

Bey'Knight Posted August 13, 2023 Posted August 13, 2023 7 hours ago, Kimbra said: Billy's point is that gender non-conformity expanded the territory for cishet men. Most of it was making sure that everyone knew that men could wear flowers and nail polish without being gay. Meanwhile, actual Queer people were overlooked and still marginalized. What exactly is the goal here? If we are trying to deconstruct gender norms, shouldn’t “overlooked” be considered an advancement? If we need a megaphone and camera lens every time a someone dresses in gender non-conforming attire, then we are circling the drain around the same conversation. Harry just happens to have a bigger celebrity cache worthy of Vogue. There was a time when Vogue wouldn’t even have Kim Kardashian on the cover unless Kanye was in the shot as well. Now is the playing field between cishet white and queer minority people even? Absolutely not but the cover of vogue is not the platform to start tackling that issue. That pendulum swings between the suits of the entertainment industry and the general populace, majority of which are … well majority, by definition. There’s a reason why most gay icons are not in fact, gay. Gracing the cover of vogue is an afterglow, if you will. Billie’s umbrage should be with his primary industry for not making him the bigger star he craves to be. 2
