I’ll reserve my opinion for the album release.

from a promotional prospective yes seems kinda similar to Sour, with a similar character- narrative.

Vampire is very sour too but the first single being safer and similar to the era before it's understandable, the album can still be a surprise

Step 1. ATRL wants Olivia to flop.
Step 2. Olivia get a radio hit and #1 song.
Step 3. ATRL decides to ignore her success and pretend like she still flopped. It’s like y’all are trying to gaslight people into thinking this era was isn’t doing well  🫠

Exactly  if it was any other pop girl it'd be considered a smash but somehow for Olivia it's a flop?

Some pop girls barely chart in the top 40 and people call their songs a hit but when olivia charts at #1 she's a flop and over   make it make sense

the only thing she doesn't have this era (so far) is a controversial relationship situation which ignited the interest of the public during her debut.

but even without that she's still doing numbers.

give it up hunnies, she ain't going anywhere but up

Vampire is a hit, chill. She is not gonna suffer an Artpop.

I was definitely disappointed upon first listen. It would be a great Sour B-Sides track.

She's biracial.

Still white thou. I am Filipino, so I know that she has Filipino blood. But saying she is not white is kinda wrong

No, she's part white, part Filipino. So she's biracial. Saying she is white is wrong.

anyway, I wouldn’t say it backfired yet, let’s see how the 2nd single does. Gen Z is very fickle, they move on quick

no she’s not, atrler user Sparksfly88. just bcoz she doesn’t look chinese or japanese like most racists expect an asian woman to be.

I think what they're aiming for is for her to become a Britney x Taylor hybrid of this generation so the BOMT to OIDIA barely-a-transition makes sense. I don't know if the problem is the strategy itself or simply the song choice.

She’s doing fine so far with only one song out. It even set a record IIRC. Too soon to call anything from this era a backfire.

Yes, the album doesn't really have hype with the GP

vampire is her least successful single to date even though there's an unprecedented wait and anticipation for it.

People who say this are so ignorant and clearly live in a bubble because to anyone who has traveled or lived in a diverse society she is very clearly not white.

Saying she is not white is wrong also dude. She is white and filipino, she is both. Why are you offended when I say she is white? When half her gene is white? Make it make sense.

Stating she is white is erasing half her heritage. She's part white. I literally stated that she was biracial at the beginning of this exchange. :skull: Also, who's offended?

Too soon to say, even if it appears as a yes right now. Sometimes artists attempting to use a lead single to “transition” era creates this kind of issue.

Cardi and Doja are always called black rappers even if they are mixed. Does that mean people are erasing half of their heritage? Make it make sense

That's culturally completely different and they both identify as black. Olivia does not identify as white. You literally have no argument.

Stop. I am literally a filipino. Olivia has more privilege than us because she is part white.

That is the reality
