Dula Peep Posted August 2, 2023 Posted August 2, 2023 Travis Scott literally stood by and did nothing while his fans were crushed to death and he's going number 1 7 2 1
Nashe Posted August 2, 2023 Posted August 2, 2023 No idea how it'll affect her touring power which was pretty good so far afaik, but even without this scandal she wasn't exactly the hottest artist regarding charts. Truth Hurts got popular thanks to a movie placement, Good As Hell followed its hype and About Damn Time was flopping until that viral tiktok dance. I'm sad how things are unfolding for her, but if the accusations are true, she obviously has to take responsibility. She's a unique and extremely talented artist in today's pop landscape who was struggling financially for years before her big break, so I'll be really sad if she ruined things for herself. 4

ugo Posted August 2, 2023 Posted August 2, 2023 I get the double standards but nonetheless Lizzo still did something awful. 2

I think if everything we heard is true she deserves all these lashings and for her career to be over, but the fact that so many men (particularly white) have not been affected in the slightest for being horrible people is disturbing. 1

Like, who GOES to a strip club and expects not to see nudity. Her big issue was mixing friendships with employees. The *big issue* here is that she peer pressured them into doing things they were uncomfortable with. And it happened twice with the Paris nude bar. Not to mention the false imprisonment and torture of her dancers that you conveniently ignore. Edited August 2, 2023 by Rep2000 1
jjmed59 Posted August 2, 2023 Posted August 2, 2023 unfortunately, this isnt just a “shes dating a bad person” or “shes a homewrecker” kind of scandal. there are actual crimes going on here. i dont think she will make it back from this one considering her brand has been completely ruined. 1

MANY people who were close to Lizzo supported the dancers's lawsuit, why do you even think this is false to begin with? 2 1
RihRihGirrrl Posted August 2, 2023 Posted August 2, 2023 Is a strip club considered a 'work environment' in this case? That could be what determines the outcome of this suit. If the allegations are true then shame on Lizzo!
mercurialworld Posted August 2, 2023 Author Posted August 2, 2023 I seemingly forgot to answer my own question but yes, our Lizzo is over.
Galah Posted August 2, 2023 Posted August 2, 2023 Her breakout hit was co-written with a man accused of sexual misconduct (which she never acknowledged or spoke out against), so I'm not sure why we're all shocked. People clearly just haven't been paying attention.

I doubt Lizzo is over and I doubt she did any of this.i hope they investigate find out. kelly’s situation was a bit more different, the hostile work environment was solely blamed on the producers of the show and not kelly herself, they even emphasized how unaware she was of it. lizzo’s case solely placed the blame on her and puts her in an awful light. plus, like it was said before, all the allegations go completely against what lizzo represented as a public figure and an artist, this most likely isn’t gonna end well tbh. 1
Fleahive Posted August 2, 2023 Posted August 2, 2023 I'm truly concerned for her mental health. Ever since she went private on twitter and threatened to disappear forever I've been worried about her. This one is going to hurt her bad... especially if she sees the Beyonce thing as shade.
Fleahive Posted August 2, 2023 Posted August 2, 2023 You guys are making terrible comparisons. Chris Brown has a STRONG dedicated fanbase of females that want to **** him no matter what. Gen Z WORSHIPS artists like Travis Scott. Recent racist country stars all have strong dedicated fan bases that won't budge no matter what. Lizzo, DaBaby don't have a dedicated fan base. She will be cancelled accordingly, not enough people will stay to support her. Her solo album flopped and only one song did well strictly because it became a tiktok trend. 2
KLatz Posted August 2, 2023 Posted August 2, 2023 (edited) Probably not. These scandals rarely have lasting impact and social media usually gets past them pretty quickly. If the material is good, she'll continue to see success. She'd have to do something absolutely atrocious to really be over tbh. Edited August 2, 2023 by KLatz
Polgg48 Posted August 3, 2023 Posted August 3, 2023 i was away for few days busy on real world staffs and lizzo already got cancelled this quick? wait for lizzo response before make up my decision...
Xtianlofbritney Posted August 3, 2023 Posted August 3, 2023 Her problem is that she doesn’t have a solid fanbase like Britney, Gaga or Beyoncé to fight for her. she relies on the GP, so I think she is over.
teresaguidice Posted August 3, 2023 Posted August 3, 2023 she was at risk of being over regardless just because her music and image are very novelty and meghan trainor'd but if she releases a radio friendly earworm in 6 months or whenever, she'll be fine. same with doja. most people are really just not as plugged into this stuff as some of you think.
ATRL Moderator madonnas Posted August 3, 2023 ATRL Moderator Posted August 3, 2023 I don’t think it’s a given that this is over but it will haunt her forever. this is in complete contrast to her her imagine + she’s a black woman so people are chomping at the bits to attack her. Frankly the accusations are bad but they seem par the course for the industry. I’m not trying to defend her but .. gurl, I even saw a tweet comparing her to R Kelly. It’s time for a little bit of media literacy cuz the music and entertainment industries are extremely toxic industries that don’t value workers dignity. Lizzo is a small small part of the problem. And she also seemed to not understand that her employees are not her girlfriends she can kii kii with. I bet you if she and her kookoo manager didn’t treat her dancers so shit none of them would have felt uncomfortable in the strip club situations but regardless people should really do their best to not engage in personal relationships with anyone in positions below or above them. 4

This is bigger than the Doja mess. “Doja was rude to her fans” isn’t as much of a shocking thing to read as “Lizzo is being sued for sexual harassment” for people who aren’t tuned in, even headlines are of much bigger magnitudes
