The song depicts a breakup in which Carly realises she was the one to mess up, she explains that it was “it was nice to be the one who was humbled and to see that I messed up, and try out a song where I wrote from the bad perspective”. The song is cute and has nice production but it fails to stand out as anything special among the other tracks on The Loneliest Time. @supaspaz shows his love for the song “So many good lines – starting with “First, I just imagined all your qualities and that's my fault” – underpinned by a subtly sweet soundscape.” Lovers (10s and 11s): 10 - supaspaz Haters (0s and 1s): None Good song but it’s time for some of the weaker bops from Carly to go. This is a fair elim 1
kandicha Posted July 31, 2023 Posted July 31, 2023 the song is cute, but fair is fair, time for a break from the rina lashings
Ewan Chaos Posted July 31, 2023 Posted July 31, 2023 Yeah this is a fair first elim from Carly. Even though I'm SHOCKED it's not Betch House.
gatito Posted July 31, 2023 Posted July 31, 2023 still better than the entite flop the girl tracklist bar catch me in the air 2
Virgos Groove Posted July 31, 2023 Posted July 31, 2023 Go **** Yourself or whatever it's called was right there
greento Posted July 31, 2023 Author Posted July 31, 2023 It's tough out in the real world, let's go back to our world Tove Lo loses her first song of the set with the haunting ballad “True Romance”. This is possibly Tove’s most emotionally raw track ever both vocally and lyrically. It slowly builds with an understated instrumental that allows Tove to express herself through her voice. It was inspired by the 1993 film of the same name and tells the story of someone willing to break the law to prove their love for their partner-in-crime and live a Bonnie and Clyde-esque lifestyle with them. @supaspaz gave the song his 11 and backs it up with “Absolutely stunning. This song changed my entire perception of Tove. I’d never felt such emotional fulfilment from her before”. @pavi also gave it their 11 and says the song is “CRIMINALLY UNDERRATED. The suspense and power in her voice, amazing!!” Lovers (10s and 11s): 11 - @pavi 11 - @supaspaz 10 - greento 10 - creativity. Haters (0s and 1s): 1 - Supervillain 1 - 4Real 0 - @Psycho

Ewan Chaos Posted July 31, 2023 Posted July 31, 2023 Did not think this song was so strongly hated As far as Tove ballads go this one is actually quite good. Oh well.

Psycho Posted July 31, 2023 Posted July 31, 2023 Scat For Me trash Phantom is cute Move Me deserved lower, snore Far Away cute bop Yas my 0 out
ATRL Moderator madonnas Posted July 31, 2023 ATRL Moderator Posted July 31, 2023 True romance is a passable ballad. Cute and cruel > true Romance > I’m to blame from the 3 midtempo / slow songs on DF
kimberly Posted July 31, 2023 Posted July 31, 2023 "Far Away" is the only dud on Carly's album for me, a middling 5/10. hopefully we won't see CRJ make any more appearances today. "True Romance" was too ahead of its time and intellectually advanced for you hoes.
greento Posted July 31, 2023 Author Posted July 31, 2023 So nice, how refreshin' you crush all the competition, you can ask me if I'm busy tonight Carly takes her second loss of the rate with “So Nice” leaving at #45. The song features a chorus of la-la-las as Carly daydreams about how “nice” her lover is. She describes how different this relationship is and how much easier it is than what she’s known before. @Miichael observes “Something about this is giving Spice Girls album track. It’s cute I like it”. @Ewan Chaos displays his appreciation for the song despite what the rest of ATRL might think “Really underrated! I know ATRL hates men being on anything at all so they hate the "la-la-la-lala" bits, but I love them and the overall funk on this track.” Lovers (10s and 11s): 10 - beomgyu Haters (0s and 1s): 1 - BlackoutZone
ATRL Moderator madonnas Posted July 31, 2023 ATRL Moderator Posted July 31, 2023 So nice is very charming and should be at least 10 spots higher.
ATRL Moderator madonnas Posted July 31, 2023 ATRL Moderator Posted July 31, 2023 My issue with tove is honestly that she does the cursive singing thing when she’s trying to belt. It’s super jarring

greento Posted July 31, 2023 Author Posted July 31, 2023 Look at us now, way past the clouds that haunted your dreams, I hope that you're proud We return to Hold The Girl for our next reveal. “Catch Me In The Air” is a pop-rock, Disney Channel-esque track about Rina’s relationship with her mom. She says that she “just wanted to write about the fact that we have caught each other when we're falling”. In my opinion, the song has a catchy enough chorus and a charming enough message to excuse the slightly cheesy lyrics and overall provides an experience that is difficult to not enjoy. @Rev8 simply said “Katy Perry if she was alt”, on the other hand @SLIME compared the song to “Hilary Duff”. @pavi thought that it was “giving a little too much Eurovision in the chorus ”. Lovers (10s and 11s): 10 - greento 10 - Sanguine Haters (0s and 1s): None
