I'm not comfortable with the Islamophobia in this thread! Diversity is our strength.

I'm more uncomfortable with that religion hating us gays and murdering us, that makes me more uncomfortable. It is outrageous that there are homosexuals who defend them.

The tolerance paradox indeed

But but woke liberals told me Islam is a religion of peace and not at all evil like Christianity.

Those people in the video were all "Far-right extremists" so I see no reason to single out Muslims.  Right-wing extremists are all terrible, but we should not use progressivism to harbor certain prejudice ourselves.

And some people really want me to respect this as a gay man :deadbanana2:You have GOT to be joking me. I'm not respecting any culture that wants me dead. Like these are the real people radicalizing kids and spreading hate. Bffr :deadbanana2:

Muslims in Canada are not really helping themselves with these sort of regressive attitudes:bam:. The average Canadian will simply not put up with this sh*t. This will only hurt their cause and increase islamophobia. But one can only do so much about human stupidity.

So diverse that we somehow united muslims and nazis to be on the same side on 1 issue: queer people's existence.

If you hate f-words enough to go to a protest, why not live in countries where f-words live in hiding?

As a gay male - there is no room for homophobic Muslims in Canada.

If you come to Canada, demand I respect "your Islam traditions" but want me to not live freely as a gay male - please; get the **** out of Canada and go back to whatever backward nation you come from. I truly mean it when I say, you are not wanted here if that is how you think.

if i see the word islamophobia one more time in a thread about people screaming murder to gays in public

!!!!

Like it’s ALWAYS deflection. Posters expressing intolerance to a homophobic IDEOLOGY is somehow more outrageous than the content in the OP.

Anyways, what most of you don’t realize is this is how the majority of Muslim children grow up. Their taught to be righteous and to see non-muslims as ‘infidels’ that are living in sin merely for not being Muslim.

Also you will hardly see ‘leftist’ and ‘progressive’ Muslims calling them out for their intolerance and hateful behavior. If they do not vocalize their agreement, they do so  by remaining silent.

Why would a protest that isn’t explicitly Islamophobic not have muslims in it?

There’s always going to be losers but Muslims here are generally pretty progressive (esp if they grew up here). I wonder how many people in this thread have even set foot in Canada before :rip:

Then I wouldn't be surprised to see these two groups fight against each other about their religion being right or wrong.. :sistrens:

I mean seriously this is something I fail to  understand on this forum tbh. :rip:

It’s simple logic to acknowledge that religion is NOT a race and therefore should absolutely be criticized, especially when it promotes a hateful text that encourages killing.

And out of all the religious people here, mostly the muslims are the sensitive ones to criticism of their religion here for me it's one of two things they don't know much about the religion they believe in or they try to close an eye, either way it's a problem because when gay people here discuss the matter on a related thread against hateful behaviors of some religious groups based on their hateful books, these gays get their mouth shut with a two week ban because of someone else being too sensitive for seeing their hateful book being criticized.

Why would fundamentalist religious muslims be special or worth note to the rightwing led antilgbt sentiment currently? They have ALWAYS been there.

Why would we focus on a spoke when the wheel needs a stick through it?

Stop being reactionary idiots.

You can drag people and not serve the rightwing messaging at the same time. Why would you divide attention to the wizard instead of the man behind the curtain?

Oppose religion or don't oppose it at all. I hate this picking and choosing people do.

Conservatism is the crux of the issue, politics can be fixed, braindead religiosity can not, hence we teach children better. Their parents are lost causes.

All these people attacking lgbt rights are disgusting but not every Muslim thinks the same and statistics show most Muslims in Canada and other western nations vote liberally.

Also interesting how only Muslims are told to go back to their “backwards countries” but no one mentions the white extremists next to them or tells them to go back to Europe.

I am against telling anybody to "go back to their backwards countries".

But regarding the more serious underlying issue, this is not a fair comparison.

Europe is fundamentally way more progressive than ANY majority Muslim country so it wouldn't make any sense. Those white extremists would be just as pariah in most European countries as they are in Canada...

Now Morocco (Africa), Saudi Arabia (Middle East), and even Indonesia (SEA)... It doesn't matter the continent, ALL majority Muslim countries have a serious homo-genocidal problem and can't be called progressive. It is  not racist to note this difference.
