I got my WTC fellas mixed up. 2015 was a rough year for me regardless, I wasn't sure what was going on. I went from hidden suburban twink to hungry twunk ******, it was a ... transformative year

If I'm being honest, I don't know any Ghostface Killah songs.

BULERÍAS

Average score: 6.79

High score: 10 (@Soda Pop Queen, @CBC)

Low score: (@jacklovesyou1)

Rosalía returns to her flamenco roots to defend herself against accusations that she sold out on this cante from Motomami. “Bulerías” refers to the rapid 12-beat rhythm, over which Rosalía asserts that she is just as much an artist whether she’s dressed like a bailaora or wearing a Versace tracksuit. As the song draws to a close, she shouts out her inspirations – flamenco singers Niña Pastori and José Mercé alongside rappers Lil’ Kim, Tego Calderon and M.I.A. – and brags that she can sing “al siete por medio,” essentially a level beyond than anything that exists in the genre's tradition.

Best bit: “Igual de cantaora con un chándal de Versace/Que vestidita de bailaora”

ATRL says…: @madonnas applauded “the El Mal Querer leftover that we love to love.”

Well, yes! I certainly remember that now. It was a bonus track on my Back to Black CD.

“Bulerías” is a great case for what a vocal talent she is

I gave Bulerias a 9 but should have given it a full 10. It's a perfect song

LOVE LANGUAGE

Average score: 6.81

High score: 10 (@Katamari, @brokee)

Low score: (@creativity., @Sanguine)

SZA has wasted plenty of time trying to figure out how to connect with her man. Now she’s just begging for clarity about what his “Love Language” is on this sinuous slow jam from SOS. The outro mashes together interpolations from Aaliyah’s “I Don’t Wanna” and SZA’s own 2020 single “Hit Different,” woozily sung by Ty Dolla $ign.

Best bit: “Text me like I'm waiting for you to come lie to me”

ATRL says…: @cockatoo loved the “Hit Different” interpolation at the end. @madonnas thought SZA “wasted a cool violin solo on a mediocre song.”

This rate is such a breeze when you only remember 35 of the 120 songs - and 16 of them come from the same album!

I hate the phrase "love language" and how Gen Z has adapted it into their lexicon
