truly I hope this shooter rots in hell not only for their crimes but also for helping the fascist attack on trans people gain even more momentum

All they saw was "him/he" in a Linkedin profile. I do not doubt the shooter was trans but still they did not wait any second for additional proof as they should and just rushed to report it.

This is terrible for all the victims, RIP :( it seems that there are shootings every week tbh; that being said... my only question is, why is this taking so much media coverage? Is it because Nashville is predominately white?

and regardless, the VAST majority of these mass shootings are carried out by cishet white men. Are we stupid enough to let the right distract from discussions about control by trying to further vilify the trans community?

Uvalde got a lot of media coverage, so no.

 

For the right, the reason they're covering it is because they have a trans bogeyman to focus the anger on, and likely justify legislation targeting trans people in general such as banning people with gender dysphoria diagnoses from owning firearms. Tucker Carlson was even calling for exactly that a few days before the shooting happened, because the right doesn't want trans people to have the ability to defend themselves.

 

The more extreme ones are calling for forced psychiatric therapy, ultimately amounting to concentration camps if they get away with it.

1 mass shooting by a trans person is definitely not a pattern, but I would say that school shootings are more of an American mental health problem than a cis white problem.

 

School shootings are connected to mental illness and hopelessness/suicidal behavior. American is a majority White country, and non-Hispanic whites make up something like 80% of suicides in the US, and 75-80% of suicides are by males. So it's expected that most school shootings and mass shootings will be by White men.

If you include this century's school shootings with 3-4 deaths, then there were 16 of those this century, 14 of them by males, 2 by females, 7 by Whites, 6 by Blacks, 1 by a mixed White/Asian, 1 by a S Asian, 1 by a Hispanic(?).

So apparently John Perry, one of the founders of Nashville Covenant was a child sexual abuser and admitted child molester and people tied to Covenant tried to cover it up.

It looks like Perry, who co-wrote books about "character" and "doing the right thing" for Republican Governor Mike Huckabee's presidential campaign was finally disciplined by Nashville Covenant in 2009-2012. His victims were pre-teen girls.

Maybe if the full manifesto gets released, we'll find out what drove Hale to target Covenant school, but it does seem like there were some bad people running things there.
