I spent 6 months in Nashville while living with an ex. I’m very well traveled throughout the US. I’m very familiar with Tennessee. It was very arrogant of you to claim that I haven’t traveled or experienced different types of people, but I’m going to ignore that because it has no bearing on the main point, which is that people choosing to listen to certain artists quite literally has nothing to do with gun reform. I live in Texas. I know how shitty it is to have people refuse to progress our society all because they’re holding onto traditional views and outdated policies. That doesn’t mean I go around blaming the Houston Rodeo or the CMT Awards for political shortcomings.

And for the record, I’m 26.

Sis, if you're well traveled you'd see all of that is connected. The rodeos, country music, the entire idea of blue lives matter and lack of support for black lives, the artists they suppport, religion, the list goes on. These states literally breed these people to think, act and believe how they see fit. Gen Z is coming up the same way.

I have been fortunate to have lived a bit of everywhere from my homestate Michigan to NV, Cali, TX, MT, OH, GA and TN.

The amount you have traveled, witnessed and experienced definitely has bearing on anyone's main talking points. As a black man in a southern state I'm letting you know this stuff is all connected and curated.

Until people can get their heads out from under their a** will we be able to fix these issues. Until then it's going to keep happening.

This is so sad to hear. This country has so many issues with their obsession with guns.

And to think TN will pay more attention to banning drag queens than do something about this.

I’m a black man in the southern US as well. Have been my whole life. I’m sorry but I just don’t agree that people listening to Love Story or Shake It Off is why politicians do not institute gun reform. :rip: and the same applies to ANY artists. From anti-Semitic Kanye to closet racist Morgan Wallen, none of these entertainers actually have significant impact on political policies. Blue Lives Matter as an ideology is not directly tied to any artist, and while you could make the argument that a subsector of country music fans uphold these ideals, you’re not going to find that kind of crowd at *checks notes* a Taylor Swift concert. Very few artists make their political stances a primary component to their artistry. If Morgan Wallen was making entire albums about white supremacy you’d have a stronger point here.

**I do acknowledge that country music does promote nationalism and American pride, but this can’t really be found in Taylor or Morgan’s songs, so it was weird that you singled them out when Toby Keith was right there.**

So, to triple down on my point, the artists an individual chooses to listen to has no correlation to political implementation of gun reform.

Honestly this is scary and sad. If I had kids in America I would genuinely home school them. **** this. Something needs to be done about the fact that anyone has the ‘right’ to go and buy a gun.

What’s with the targeting of schools of all places?

So so sad hearing that more young children have lost their lives cause of senseless politicians and gun laws. I would be scared to be a parent in the US

This country has become so numb to random shootings. Sad.

OMG this is horrible and sad :cries:

I'm surprised in how the US still have the nerve to tell people about how dangerous other countries are, when its own people has to deal with this kind of situations every day.

Good think Republicans are focusing on what matters and protecting children from the evils of LGBTQ+ people and drag queens!

The Republican Party and the right in general shouldnt be allowed to exist in the US anymore. **** democracy if they prefer to attack drag queens instead of reducing gun violence

If its true the shooter is left-wing and trans, I want to see how the narrative / coverage changes across the news spectrum

I have a feeling this thread is going to get very quiet now that it's been revealed the shooter is a trans male. Sigh.  :toofunny2:

Tennessee won't care, they're too busy "backing the blue", banning drag shows, and listening to Morgan Wallen and Taylor Swift.
