Her best solo release so far. Idk if it's lead single material, but still pretty. :heart2:

I think this is a great song and amazing harmonies. IMO it kinda puts her in SZA’s lane a bit, but Chloe style, so even if she could get half of that audience she’d be on to something.

the blue look with the braids in the music video was stunning :jonnycat:

glad columbia gave her budget again, even if this is serving promotional single to get everyone back on board before coming with the real hit

MV looks incredibly nice. I must say I'm not very into the religious image (even though I know she's very fond of God), it just comes off weird to me, the MV does a good thing for the song. Love seeing her perform. Is it a clean version in the MV? On another topic, all this talk about this being a good or not lead single isn't really important in my opinion. This song is a different version of herself therefore it's a new introduction, and that's what lead singles are meant to do. Maybe the label is relying on just getting into the album (while also having a concept 'pieces of Chloe'). Pretty sure we'll get a banger near or with the album.

It's also funny to me how Chloe is now gospel and N is releasing a thot song next :deadbanana2:

She always comes off as a try too hard. It was tolerable in Have Mercy, because she could’ve shown more of herself from that. But four singles in: the gun and violence lyrics… some of the slurs used. She lacks the penmanship and she can’t seem to sell this bird persona. It’s like we can tell she’s not this girl at all and it’s unsettling. I feel like this whole era of pre-singles was supposed to break her previous image - and it did - but it failed in setting a personality that could hooks us powerfully. She feels like filler and this seems like a bite at SZA’s lyrical sincerity without the honesty from experience

Now, I don't entirely disagree with everything you've said here. But you're doing too much. To me it feels clear Chloe embodies the awkward juxaposition between worlds as you mature. She's come into her sexuality, power and her navigating it is sometimes forceful, not always landing, I think that's reflective her character and pressures/criticism she's faced. Not everyone needs to have the effortless cool. Also nothing in this bites from SZA, who is on her 3rd album and 10 years older...

I'm looking forward to seeing Chloe musical growth. Her being championed by Beyonce is kind of a gift/curse because I feel like she's expected to land, guns blazing when in fact she still needs time to figure herself out.

OP: This is maybe my favourite solo song she's released. Didn't click until I listened to the audio in isolation but the vocal laying is ace. It's not lead single material, sounds more an album promo track but I feel like it's here as a palette cleanser as we move towards the sound of the album.

THIS IS SO GOOD:jonny5:

The harmonies save this and the build in the bridge is very very well done!

there should have been a drawn a drawn out outro but w/e

Edit: Not my job by Flo auto played afterwards and the flow is *chef's kiss*

Same! Hopefully we get an extended version on the album with a beautiful outro to transition

yeah I’m interested in seeing if Columbia will give this the full single treatment or if it will wind up just being a promo/teaser single. It does sound like an album opener/interlude

this is really growing on me though.
