Michelle side because it's nowhere near the SZA pen in terms of creativity and inventiveness. Her enunciation in the first verse doesn't help either... It sounds like she's saying "Fun" instead of the "***". Overall, this is a whole new direction... and one that could work for her, especially because it could get her a space in the R&B sad girls niche... I don’t know why some of y’all are saying it reminds you of SZA. It sounds NOTHING like SZA’s music at all. The song actually sounds like it is inspired by Jazmine Sullivan and has elements of gospel. It is very soulful. The song is really good. Right, I saw the reactions here and just kept it pushing lol. I think this is the perfect launch to the album. It's not "empire music", it's not "too sexual", it's not "tik tok pandering". It's a great R&B song with amazing production, great vocals, great harmonies. Not necessarily crafted to burn down the charts, but it'll grab the interest of the people who probably were not looking forward to the album after being turned off by some of the things she put out or was doing. Absolutely in love with the direction of the album launch and the new single. 9.5/10 for me. The song isn't bad at all but it just doesn't give 'single' or maybe I was expecting something different idk. Trim the fat this song wouldn’t benighted by making it longer. She could’ve made it 3 minutes by having a 4 to 8 bar into and doing a final chorus but it would’ve added nothing to the song. The song already has a bunch of vocals so doing a final chorus with saliva would’ve been too much. She hit all the parts of the song into, 2 verses, 2 chorus, bridge and outdo.
