I think the opposite, I think it sounded like exactly the ideal pop radio smash of 2018, where pop music was trying too hard to be minimalistic and constrained, and it did so in a tasteful and timeless manner.

 

For the first few weeks after the music video I just couldn't get it out of my head, such an earworm of a track.

They actually didn’t only rate Rep, they did give out some other scores to other songs. But yes, they did give a lot of 1’s. However, it was the only “sabotage” ballot received, so I’m not sure how much damage one ballot can do. I mean, I don’t think they prevented songs like “That’s When” from placing higher.

That has been gaining a lot of TikTok stans lately, I think it will probably be the second highest ranking Debut album cut, or it might even be the highest. It could even beat Picture To Burn.

That's what I'm trying to say, I think. Delicate was one of the few traditional (ie over 3 minutes, no tropical influence, no trap influence) female pop songs to do well in the 2018 environment, because the way it was crafted within the traditional pop realm was immaculate and not generic.
