KillingYourCareer: This is a very interesting song. I love how she breaks the fourth wall in it. you will appreciate this song in a couple of years, bookmark me
Cruel Summer Posted February 22, 2023 Posted February 22, 2023 Dear Reader throws me right back to the first moment I found out that there were seven extra tracks and the day I spent listening to Midnights in full for the first time. Magical.

My worst fear is that he gets his hands on Dark Blue Tennessee (Taylor's Version) and turns it into a hot, steaming pile of synth crud. Love him 99.9% of the time but he doesn't need to be involved there! I just need the country songs' instrumentals to remain coming from real guitars, real drums, real banjos and so on!
By the Water Posted February 22, 2023 Posted February 22, 2023 Not the Godchanted hate. There was room for everybody in this rate, I see

Lorenzo22 Posted February 22, 2023 Posted February 22, 2023 GOD reader he failed you!!! the bridge alone is better than 70% of midnights

1989 Posted February 22, 2023 Author Posted February 22, 2023 107. High Infidelity - 7.105 Lovers(10): Tusk, wastedpotential, Ethereal Cat, sparrowblue, Fifteen, Prison, KillingYourCareer, By The Water, Haters(1): The Argonaut, Taylor fanboy Haters(0): Supernatural Comments: wastedpotential: The ‘woo’ing in the last minute of the song is literally my favourite Taylor Swift production choice of all time. Nothing compares to the way that makes me feel.
KillingYourCareer Posted February 22, 2023 Posted February 22, 2023 Dear Reader has become a HUGE favorite of mine, and a staple during my sunset countryside walks with my dog lately. It's absolutely magical, I can't even begin to describe it--the way she breaks the fourth wall and talks directly to the listener (who might as well be herself) is so outstanding to me. I especially love the ending, when her voice gets distorted and feels further away as she says "you should find another light, but I shine so bright"... she makes me feel a visual experience. Not many artists can have this effect on me.

Velvet Night Posted February 22, 2023 Posted February 22, 2023 I like Dear Reader but I think it’s a deserved placement

KillingYourCareer Posted February 22, 2023 Posted February 22, 2023 And there goes my number one favorite from Midnights! What I adore about High Infidelity is the April 29 detail she added. It's a little detail that makes the song only relatable to her. And I have a thing for remembering precise dates--I can even tell you what happened to me on May 11, 2001 when I was 4 years old, for example!
Cruel Summer Posted February 22, 2023 Posted February 22, 2023 oh wait not the Midnights back to back elimination, that's not-

State of Grace. Posted February 22, 2023 Posted February 22, 2023 Ugh I just knew this song would be trashed because this forum is so tasteless Remains an excellent closer and it's legit one of the songs that fit her description of the album + aesthetic best
By the Water Posted February 22, 2023 Posted February 22, 2023 Do you really wanna know where I was April 29th? Do I really have to chart the constellations in his eyes? You know there's many different ways that you can kill the one you love The slowest way is never loving them enough
State of Grace. Posted February 22, 2023 Posted February 22, 2023 NOOOOOOT High Infidelity too I am once again asking for Anti-Hit, Lavender Turd, Midnight Pain to EXIST. It's crazy how blinded yall by the singles privilege
1989 Posted February 22, 2023 Author Posted February 22, 2023 Next: a single I personally always thought deserved more love, but seeing how it’s missed the Top 100, I guess nothing has changed
Velvet Night Posted February 22, 2023 Posted February 22, 2023 Not another Midnights song, the album is really getting slaughtered
Cruel Summer Posted February 22, 2023 Posted February 22, 2023 High Infidelity has honestly gone from one of the Midnights tracks I play the least to a highlight. It's just so solid, consistently good.
