fauxtography Posted March 10, 2023 Posted March 10, 2023 The way Got The Thrills could have been a title track as well

Korea is really not JYP’s priority anymore and that’s really smart because we can see the power of their global fanbase more and more today.

Korean promo is not just meant to promote to the Korean public or else it wouldn’t be uploaded to global YouTube. Plenty of groups don’t bring in much money from domestic digitals - only 1/3 of 4th gen girl groups have even charted and I don’t believe any fourth gen boy group has even hit 1B digital points. But those groups are all still active and actively promoting because they make their money from touring, event promotions, appearances, sponsorships, endorsements, album sales and global streaming. Circle themselves are the ones who certify streams when a song hits about 600M digital points. Using simple logic, we can see that 600M digital points is equivalent to 100M streams. Of course, we know that 100M streams can bring in different levels of revenue on different services, but 600 million won is only about $450k. That’s good extra revenue, but it’s not making up a significant portion of costs, especially after royalties are paid out. Here’s a good example for ITZY and Aespa. Both ITZY and Aespa have less than 3B digital points (meaning they’ve made less than $2.276M from years of promotions and title tracks). ITZY have sold 3.7M Korean physicals (equivalent to $37M) and Aespa have sold 2.6M (equivalent to $26M). ITZY have made $2.3M+ from just five reported shows on their tour. Clearly you can see that domestic digitals are nice to have on top of everything, but they don’t amount to much. Even when T-ARA were digital queens at the peak of digital sales, they weren’t making money from digitals. okay but how does that have to do with jyp bombarding melon subscribers with text messages about twice’s comeback only for them to be OUT of melon?? that’s sorta pathetic and low
