I’m crying I thought the point of all these festivals was to test the waters for a festival. 1 month cannot cover multiple dates in Asia besides Japan + Korea. I really hope that they haven’t made fans wait about 4 years for something as underwhelming as that. I don’t even want to imagine it but they’re closing in on 10 years and I honestly doubt there’s many tours ahead of them after this one so I thought they’d go all out I mean at the start of their international peak with Bad Boy etc. SM only gave them 8 dates in U.S/Canada and bounced. The rest of the tour was in Asia. And they ignored the calls from American labels trying to sign them. So I'm not expecting much I'd like them to go all out especially as this is their last full year under their current contracts and to be honest, I can see at least one of them leaving (most likely Irene imo).

Let me tag @xrosup since I know he appreciates Boy group excellence, stream guys. How did you know I like DRIPPIN' I'm not too fond of that b-side but i think the title tracks and this one song are good

I just don't see current groups doing sth like this but who knows. One day sure but BTS are also so far ahead of everyone else they’ve just become the gangnam style of records. It’s a bit unfair to compare them to average Kpop acts when they’re practically bigger than the genre at this point. You even see it with the new gens, every record is “first 4th gen act to XXX”

The fact that the groups most streamed songs right now that are charting on global Spotify daily are Jungkook's World Cup song and his collab with Charlie Puth Like both Jungkook and BTS as a whole are credited on the songs and getting the streams on separate channels, which will increase both BTS' and Jungkook's Spotify channel. Like it makes sense to credit the whole group if the solo songs are from actual BTS albums like they previously did, but this way they are doing now is fraud and cheating!!! though even if we remove the fraud they still stomp on everyone else 41 minutes ago, BTS said: One day sure but BTS are also so far ahead of everyone else they’ve just become the gangnam style of records. You even see it with the new gens, every record is “first 4th gen act to XXX” Yeah, cause BTS and BP have literally snatched all the records, which are almost impossible for these 4th gen acts to reach, since Kpop in general is not on that level yet or if it will ever be. In short, BTS and BP does not represent where KPOP is globally, since they are also known by most non-Kpop fans these days. TWICE are a perfect example of where Kpop is globally in general today such as having a huge fanbase, good album sales, being able to have sold out tours globally etc. but still being considered a niché and lacking the same recognition from non-kpop fans such as BTS and BP. And that goes for most other Kpop acts as well. Though I'm specifically talking about success and recognition in the West and not Asia cause that's a complete different story. Though not so sure about BoA, considering she's a director and probably has a comfortable enough position at the company. We don't know how she feels about the HYBE takeover though. SNSD Oh!GG contracts are up in August this year (probably not that big of a loss at this point), EXO it's unclear but accounting for military service, perhaps some will expire later this year/next year. Red Velvet are also up for expiry in August 2024 (though Yeri probably not until March 2025). NCT are locked in for another 3 years though, the ones that can probably leave the earliest are Mark and Ten around April 2026. And they'll have aespa till 2030 (assuming they also signed the 7+3 year contract style that SM loves).
JoanneActII Posted February 28, 2023 Posted February 28, 2023 no offence but literally why would boa leave sm she'll keep renewing her contract until she dies lets be real

cloudbusting Posted February 28, 2023 Posted February 28, 2023 tbh the only scenarios for boa leaving that I can really see would be to start her own company (or do like a subsidiary thing) or like, permanently basing herself in Japan but then again i didn’t expect all the internal stuff to be THIS messy so like, I could definitely be wrong

Blueberry Kisses Posted February 28, 2023 Posted February 28, 2023 I don't think anybody is leaving SM For one thing, they all have different renewal dates, and for another, I don't know that HYBE would let them leave. Legacy boy groups, at least, are extremely lucrative. People keep forgetting that SuJu, TVXQ, EXO, and SHINee all regularly sell out arena tours across Japan. Newer groups take a long time to reach that point, if ever.
aesthetic bih Posted February 28, 2023 Posted February 28, 2023 I'm not sure about Teddy Bear smashing, like what if they become the new Twice (pre-2019 eras) and rely on Kidz Bop for hits and GP support?

Losing Oh!GG including Taeyeon & Yoona would be a colossal blow for SM, perhaps their worst loss in history It would straight up crash their stock. For that reason alone I don't think it will happen.

Screaming at this dramatization. Losing either or both of them would not crash the company lbr. And as for the rest, HYO is giving loss maker, Yuri can't get beyond mid-tier dramas and...what exactly does Sunny even do these days?
