Most of the recent Kpop hits on Spotify also performed well on AM global 

Weeekly at the end of 2021 almost made 300k USD bc of After school streams on Spotify alone. 
 

Also bless you if you thinks Idols are the ones who are making money from their millions selling albums when they have zero credits and with their debut contracts lol . That’s why female Idols  end up richer than most of these males idols despite selling less than them

Why I don't get the most is the obsession of the gheys of constantly comparing their faves here and then dragging when one isn't doing well in 1 metric but then I guess that's the nature of stan culture and this site as a whole

But yeah, it'll be very telling which direction they're aiming for with this next comeback. The label's switchup to the heavy Eve promo when everyone realized Unforgiven was a bit of a dud was encouraging. I hope they also let the Antifragile choreographers back - Unforgiven's was so mid in comparison. I think they let their in house choreographer do it.

I'm not sure if this is the best example

 

300k USD is not... a lot + with them having zero credits, they prob only got 10% of that Spotify royalties

 

With 2 million album sales, avg retail price of 15$, total revenue would be around 30M USD. Even with SM's rumoured contract of 10% artists / 90% company for album sales, the group would make roughly more than 10 times streaming royalties

True but there was a time when they were doing well in every metric tbh. Of course not a streaming giant but still good streams compared to most kpop ggs at the time coupled with hits in Korea, album sales and overall popularity (before they declined digitally in Korea and exploded in international fanbase, sales and touring power)

 

but yeah that brings us to the topic of “there will be acts not doing as well in at least one of the sectors”, and people need to realize that saying stuff like “who cares about Spotify” or “who cares about melon” or “who cares about album sales” just because their faves are lacking in one of those areas…is making them look pressed for no reason. Just be happy your faves are succeeding in certain areas and don’t diminish other platforms just because you won’t get the brownie points for your faves in that particular platform.

I would not use « doing well » for them but whatever lol . 
 

Your point was that Spotify can’t pay rents but albums sales with no credits doesn’t paid that much either. Especially idols first contract

it’s not a lot but it’s still an additional income that they needed bc their Koreans sales or Melon stress aren’t paying nothing. Also the total revenue could be 30M usd but all the expenses need to be deducted. And we know that producing an album and these x100 photo cards + promoting the album cost a lot.

We don't know the details of their contract, so 90% that the company took might include overhead costs as well  And it's still a rumour, we don't know exactly the cut that artists got from album sales. 

 

But neither streams nor album sales are the main incomes of Kpop idols, they make the most money from brand endorsements and touring

• TWICE are the best selling Kpop girl group of all time
• They are also the only gg among the top 10 best selling Kpop acts of all time. 

 

Streams: 

• They are the 3rd most streamed Kpop act of all time and only BTS and BP are above them. 
• They are the girl group with most MV's with over 100M views in history of Youtube

 

Digitals:

• They have 9 consecutive number #1 singles in Korea and has the biggest peak for gg in Korea. 
• They are the most streamed Kpop gg on MelOn

 

Billboard:

• One of the few Kpop acts to chart on Hot 100
• Peaking at #2 on Billboard 200, however they could've easily snatch a #1 album if JYP didn't make them release during the same week as that country singer. 

 

Touring:

• I don't think I even need to explain this, but they are selling out STADIUMS globally like pastry, which is something only BTS and BP can do. 

 

Like how are they not successful in every metric????

Do you guys think we're getting another TWICE solo debut under JYP or Nayeon will get a comeback before the next debut?? Bc idk which member would be, Tzuyu doesn't have much talent or stage presence but she has the popularity so it would be an opportunity for her to glow up. I guess Chaeyoung could also release something since she's into songwriting and producing but maybe it could be a mixtape? Not sure if I see her having a full debut promo like Nayeon and Jihyo did.
