However, Taylor keeps releasing quality albums, which retains fans long terms and gains her new ones with every release. Where as Adele disappointed a lot of her "casual fans" with 25, which was very similar to 21, but nowhere as good. Plus those casual fans are now what makes the GP that streams the music that they like over a long period of time. And 30 wasn't able to capture their attention at all. I mean quality is subjective, but I agree with general idea. 30 didn't grab the attention of the public in the same was Adele's previous albums did - but also those older AC type artists don't do as well in streaming compared artists with younger dedicated fanbases. 10 years ago mums, dads, granny's etc would be buying Adele's album to put on in the car, as a Christmas present etc. That older audience just doesn't stream albums the way Taylor's audience (Millennials/Gen Z) do. In this current streaming climate it would be very difficult for an artist to have a Norah Jones, Dido, Adele etc type of success. Edited October 25, 2022 by Yakult

Taylor's last true hits were from 2014. Her current success is fanbase driven. LWYMMD spent more weeks at #1 than any Britney song, ever. The last time your fav had a YEC top 20 Taylor was a 10 year old. Taylor has surpassed Britney in every conceivable way and will only continue to widen the gap.
Buffy Posted October 25, 2022 Posted October 25, 2022 Final sales prediction, I am betting on 1.7M - 2.1M.

Trainwreck Posted October 25, 2022 Posted October 25, 2022 (edited) She's the industry's behemoth absolutely unbelievable how powerful she is and how commited people are to consume her music. The engagement she's built all these years with both her fans and the gp is something that should be studied Edited October 25, 2022 by Trainwreck

Especially with no hit single, how are this many people aware her album is even out? People keep pointing to this magical "marketing", when SNL can't even get you to the top of iTunes in 2022. Especially grown adults. There is something going on here. Look up what her catalog streams were in 2019 vs 2020 vs 2022. Her fanbase has just grown that much.
Chainsmoker Posted October 25, 2022 Posted October 25, 2022 (edited) 1.466M (1.050M Pure) in the new update. Edited October 25, 2022 by Chainsmoker .
Hector Posted October 25, 2022 Posted October 25, 2022 Tuesday, October 25, 2022 A TAILORED TOP 20 Taylor Swift achieves the fifth million-selling first week of her career with the debut of Midnights (Republic). She not only sets the record for the most first-week streams by a female artist—which is about 500m besting Ariana Grande’s 307m for Thank U, Next—but she also becomes the first artist to surpass 1m since ticket/merch bundles were disallowed on the charts. The last album to open north of 1m was Swift’s Reputation (Republic) in November 2017 with 1.24m. YoungBoy NBA's Ma' I Got a Family (NBA/Atlantic) opens in the Top 10, as does Arctic Monkey's The Car (Domino) and Jeezy & DJ Drama's SNOFALL (Def Jam), while Carly Rae Repsen's The Loneliest Time (School Boy/Interscope) debuts Top 20. Now if you'll excuse us, we've got to practice our Swift-inspired dance moves ahead this weekend's festivities. Carly top 20
