The higher the numbers the higher the second week drop :clap3:

Your fave Lady Gaga is first artist to have two albums in the top five list of all-time biggest second-week percentage drops in the Nielsen Sound Scan era (since 1991), and her debuts weren't that high to begin with. Priorities.

The fact her second week will still be bigger than pretty much every other woman’s first week though :ahh:

2022 and we're still dealing with the narrative her fanbase are majority teenagers and theres no way adults are buying the albums?

Shes 16 years into her career do you think her fans hit their early 20s and drop of the face of the earth? Of course she's gonna have fans who are now in their 30s buying albums not to mention the amount of hype around this release has built this perfect storm around her career where non fans are curious as to what shes releasing so they're checking it out. Same thing happened with 1989 the only difference is she didn't put any music out beforehand.

Anyways good for her reaching this kind of success again in her career

You actually bring up another good point

The tweens in 2010-2014 who had to beg their parents to purchase Taylor's albums are all grown up now and have the purchasing power themselves

They grew up with the tradition of buying Taylor's albums and since Taylor kept up the quality and customer relations/goodwill, those former tweens are still happily purchasing this new one

There really is nothing fishy or draggable about Midnights's success when you really think about it!

Her team is probably mass buying her album lmao

She's the only one with a competent team, then.

Stay on that copium

This is very impressive, she has the most dedicated fans for sure. We'll see if this album can serve longevity, but this numbers are already insane. :jonny:

Congrats, Taylor. :clap3:

Love to see the OTH having meltdowns. :bibliahh:

I was one of those teens back in 2010-2014.  I remember trying to convince my parents to make a run to target when Speak Now came out so that I could get the album.

Considering all her albums have occupied a residency on the BB200, I would be shocked if this was the first album to not serve longevity.

maybe She should've monopolized those vinyl factories.

nah, too generous.

Most of you are SO dense and it shows. Adele's numbers were the result of a dwindling industry and EqUaTeD to 3 MiLlIoN wHen YoU ComPaRe 2015 tO 2021 yet no conversions are allowed or acknowledged for Midnights. Try again.

you really wanna act dumb huh?

if the excuse last year was that the current climate caused the 75% drop meaning that 2021's 839k is the equivalent of 2015's 3.38M

well then that means that the equivalent of 2022's 1.5M is 1/4 of 2015's

and since you're attempting to belittle someone about "math skills", I will leave you to do the math :heart2:

Some of y’all that keep asking why this one having these numbers and not folklore keep forgetting those were dropped during peak COVID, with very slow release of physicals. RED Tv was evidence that she would outdo Lover once the market was back to normal. Now this album has clicked in a major way with many different audiences. She got the die hards buying albums and I think she really got the tiktok gen z audience on lock with this return to pop music streaming-wise. After all they are putting her sons like Olivia at the top of the charts too these days and this material rings really close to their stuff. Things really came together for her.

It's getting harder and harder to believe her sales, sorry.  You're asking us to believe hundreds of thousands of 30+ adults walked into Target (and pretty much Target only) to buy her album, yet these same customers don't do this for literally any other artist?  For a dying format at that (who even owns a CD player at this point)? There is no way these casual fans are buying her music for collectible purposes.  These numbers are not adding up anymore.

ur such a ******* loser omg seethe

I never claimed Aespa's sales were real, I just enjoy the music.  But streaming has grown in recent years due older generations moving to the format.  We're expected to believe while her streaming grew, her physical sales doubled.  Her amount of older fans has grown by like half in less than year with no hits?  Occam's Razor.

ur an idiot her first week LITERALLY nearly TRIPLED her last studio effort. Even with RED TV she DOUBLED her numbers first day so YES it adds up. Its not just 'streaming grew' u fucktard, her streaming DOUBLED the same way her physical sales DOUBLED. idiot.

Adele stans really need to take the L and just accept that Taylor is bigger than her now. This isn’t 2015 anymore and quite frankly Taylor is WAY more deserving of her success than Adele’s lazy ass anyway.
