Omg :WAP: I wonder if she can outsell evermore by the end of the week. I don’t know how targets look like in terms of stock

A lot of the ones by me only have 1-4 copies of the non-lavender variants left, with half of the variants being completely sold out. (As of 10:30PM EST)

Im tired of this logic. ANYONE who buys an album, CD or digital or vinyl or cassette, is a fan of some sort. Even “”GP”” members who buy an album from someone like Adele or Ed Sheeran are fans of them, they are “a part” of that fanbase. Not everyone is a stan, but anyone who consumes the music of an artist via purchasing it is a fan. That doesnt mean Taylor only has “Swifties” listening to her music, it means a huge percentage of the general population is a fan of her music.

DRAG it.

I know damn well I'm a stan online but in terms of actual consumption I'm a casual fan of all the popgirls, you will not catch me going out buying special editions but I'm still a huge fan and buy the actual copies. Swifties range from mid 30s straight alt-rock fans like The National or Bon Iver listeners to the Gaga/SOPHIE/Kylie Minogue/CRJ pop adjacent lovers who love bopping to synthpop music, ALL people who support her music are fans and are Swifties, Swifties aren't just ******* 13 year olds who've stayed 13 since 2008 the haters need to stfu

Probably the last time we will ever see a 1M debut again. Everything was in Taylor's court this era to make it happen and looks like she did.

This is Herstory.

It will be the last time until TS11 comes.

Vinyl sales growth and steaming haven't peaked yet.

I posted this in our base / album thread but the stars aligned. Taylor has always had a negative / controversial image for one reason another

Speak Now: “cant sing, fakes being surprised”

Red: “not making real country, serial dater”

1989: “greedy, calculated, local, the squad is annoying”

reputation: Snakegate; everything :rip:

Lover: ME! happened (YNTCD & the Man too honestly)

but folklore and evermore rehabilitated her image as a serious musician and a respectable artist. (Critics and her peers)

Fearless TV came in and re established the long-standing bond with her fanbase, banking on the nostalgia of those of us that have been around since 2008. (Her fanbase)

and Red TV was just a SOLID album and reintroduction of Taylor into the public. (The GP)

Now that shes collected the respect of the her peers and critics, solidified her fanbase’s love for her, and won over the GP for the first time in a longtime, Midnights is a perfect storm reaping all those rewards.

The re-recordings and the pandemic really are blessings to her career ngl. Not to mention how savvy she is by quickly adopting TikTok when it helps ressurecting her back catalog gems.

When others completely dropped music and freeze their careers over fears of profits loss, Taylor just doubled down on her own artistry and work ethics, and committed on working even harder than even before. And it certainly speaks to the GPs.

Not to mention she has been very expertly managing her level of overexposure and just drop good music and go.

What a time to be a fan for 16 years of her career. I — :WAP:

Does anyone know what the first-day total streams that count for Billboard is? I know Spotify is 185 Million, but what is the total across all platforms?

How is she doing this :rip:. Onty her and Adele have managed to hold on to impressive pure numbers.

Taylor has marketed all of her albums on the physical format since 2006, and so her fan base is used to buying her CDs and vinyl. Consistency has been key to her success!

She should've done over double of these figures to even be considering that. Oops and 1989 are not safe though.

The Eminem Show, OOPS, and the NSYNC records are not safe, but I know for sure OOPS is in big danger

She did the right thing by interrupting the re-recording era, this stompage and hype couldn't have been wasted on a TV :foxaylove2:

She truly rehabilitated her image, she has the straighties on her side now she's going to be unstoppable once 1989 TV rolls in and the str8 men start voguing to her vault bops!

She's just out of this world.

She’s beating her best 1M opener, 1989.

She said KARMA is a cat purring on my lap.

The way she constantly pisses on the graves of Scott Borchetta and Scooter Braun. :bibliahh:

At this point, Beatlemania will be a footnote in Swiftiedom

She’ll easily do it with her next album too. Both streams and vinyl sales are constantly increasing, and Midnights is getting great reception

Once she gives us that long awaited poprock 1975 - U2 - Coldplay era its OVER once again for the girls, another career REPEAK.

She peaked in country, pop, alternative and soon ROCK :jonny5:

She’s definitely doing close to 2M SPS, this is absolute MADNESS.

Just so y’all put things into perspective OIDIA sold 500K first day (still absolutely impressive) and ended up doing 1.319M debut week. Midnights is 100% outdoing this.

I think in the age of online pre-orders, sales are gonna be more frontloaded towards the first day. I'm thinking maybe 1.4-1.5m SPS.

In a single day, pure sales, She outsold:

Taylor Swift and Fearless combined FW sales

Speak Now and Red’s 80% FW respectively

1989’s first two days 600K

reputation’s first day 700K

Lover’s FW sales

folklore and evermore FW combined :deadbanana:
