Why you all acting like it’s a surprise lol

She has more than 20 versions of this Album for sell now, and she has always been very strong for her first week numbers.

It's the fact Taylor is held to such insane standard that a 1M+ debut is not even considered a surprise/impressive for me.

I'm pretty new yeah and trust me i'm not a fan of what some Adele stans tried to do, ESPECIALLY the fake ones who were hiding behind her to bash Taylor. I just don't like stan wars between two artists i love, that's all. I'm beyond happy about Taylor's success but seeing one of my other fave being bashed in the process is ruining my fun.

Ok, fair enough. At the end of the day i adore both and i don't really care who the most successful of the two is, both of them are deserving in my book.

This is ARTL. Get a grip! We just love to drag every Adele stan who dragged Taylor last year.

Almost everyone have many versions but they dont sell well.

Not people running into this thread talking about the 20 variants as if she isn’t breaking streaming records left and right. She’s gonna do 400k+ in streaming alone. If streaming didn’t exist she’d clear 1M with ease regardless of the 20 variants. do y’all hear your levels of delusion :deadbanana2:

What are they even talking about anyway? There are 6 versions:

- Standard

- 3 variants

- Lavender (Target)

- 3AM Edition (digital only)

I'm a fan of both Taylor and Adele and it's so infuriating to see Swifties acting like that, sorry. I want to be able to enjoy Taylor's success on ATRL but seeing the CONSTANT anti-Adele hatred is tiring, honestly. Can't we just enjoy our faves's success without constantly having to put down other artists?

This the tea

here we go again with the variants lament again (even with 1M in question)

She has 5 different version available for CD and 5 for vinyls (I'm sure you don't want to count clean & explicit as different version, that's just stupid)

Here's some recent album that had variants when they came out

Lana's Chemtrails

Adele's 30

https://www.rollingstone.com/music/music-news/adele-30-album-stream-buy-online-1256455/

"A handful of deluxe physical editions of 30 were made available for purchase through select retailers. The Target-exclusive deluxe edition adds two bonus tracks and a duet version of "Easy on Me" with American singer-songwriter Chris Stapleton.[59][60] White-colored vinyl LPs were sold via Amazon, while transparent LPs were sold by Walmart. Cassette tapes of 30 were exclusively sold on Adele's webstore, as part of box sets.[61] A HMV-exclusive edition of 30 , with an alternate sleeve, was also sold".

Olivia's SOUR

oliviavin.jpg

Demi's TAOSO

"Multiple versions of the album were issued with different album covers including three variations for DTC versions of the album via Lovato's website,[14] as well as a UK exclusive cover[15] and another version for Target in the United States. The UK versions all feature an additional bonus track, while the Target version adds two bonus tracks in addition to the different album cover.[16] Dancing with the Devil... the Art of Starting Over was also made available in a bundle featuring the three exclusive album covers along with either the UK-specific cover or the general standard edition cover.[17] Multiple DTC cassette variations were made available for preorder via Lovato's website. All three alternate covers have their own cassette variations exclusive to the UK,[18] while the American cassette release uses the standard edition cover art."

And countless others, Bey had 4 different box set to pre-order on her website for Renaissance etc. etc.

It's not like having multiple versions doesn't count if they don't sell as well as Taylor's.

Not to say that she's also shattering streaming records (and before the 20 tracks!!111!! excuse comes around, she reached the Spotify record with only the 13 standard tracks).

not really when you're selling a clock for each 4 variants. pretty cool, but nevertheless....

4 vinyl, 4 cds, target cd, target vinyl, 3am version, cassettes...then count all the signed versions. i mean she's a smart businessman but to not say she doesn't have a **** ton of variants is dumb

The point is that a) this is literally standard for every major artist now, and more importantly b) Taylor would smash regardless. So once again, the discourse around ~variants~ is both tired and irrelevant

At least Taylor never had to reduce her albums to 99 cents to have not one but multiple 1M sellers :biblio:

Right? As if the streaming numbers alone isn't proof of the massive demand there is for her music. I'm also sure she could've sold 1M without the variants.

So what's the new goal post for Taylor since she's doing 1M+ now?

Posted

Nobody does it like her. The people downplaying this are EMBARAZZZZZZING. She cleared everyone. Biggest artist of her generation

If most of the girls here were to push 20 versions of their albums they would have 19 more versions of their music rotting on the shelves. Lets not

Not me being right a couple months ago saying she’s yet to commercially peak as streaming has made her music accessible for everyone. Technically more people consumed Midnights than 1989 if you think about it.

Yes and no. 1989 had five pop radio #1 hits back when radio was still huge. So the music from 1989 will always be more famous and known. You may not choose to consume a song that comes on at a bar or a party or on the radio in a taxi, but you’re still experiencing the he music.

I love how atrl’s narrative about Adele being the only one !!111 in everything doesn’t match with reality anymore :deadbanana:

i wonder where are her fans now? not so cocky and brave now..... :lmao:

Even with the variants it’s still very impressive. This is her 10th album in 2022 selling over 1 mil in 1 week. If there are people buying multiple versions of the same album with a different cover than that’s also really impressive that she has that kind of power.

Not only all the above, but her last 2 efforts weren’t even mainstream/radio friendly. This album isn’t either. She’s selling based on sheer talent

There's NOTHING you can drag this woman for. This is not fun. Too much success.

She wasn't, but now she is.

In America, only during 2011-2012 was Adele bigger. 25 and 1989 are at about the same amount of units there in the 11-13M range.

Its impressive how she's been able to make up for the drop in album sales (for everyone) with her streams.

Tbf she's garnered a massive fanbase that keeps her first week numbers high. I still think 1989 is her last true GP album. Pop is always going to be more GP going than folk. Though I guess Anti-Hero has the potential to be her biggest hit in a while, but then again it's pop.
