This type of hat is called SALAKOT, it is one of those symbols with a story muddled by history and simultaneously sits as a piece of the National Costume of the Philippines. Aside from the historical touch, the material used in this hat also pays homage to the five out of nine species of honeybees that are native in the Philippines. The hat is accompanied with a structured top which has exaggerated sleeves and a balloon skirt adorned with bee-shaped accents to symbolize a honey comb. That's why this indigenous look is called "Nectar of Life".
