Sanguine Posted July 20, 2022 Posted July 20, 2022 GROUP B Demi Lovato - Here We Go Again: Yes Disney pop rock banger yes acclaim. Their new songs seem to be basically be re-recordings of their stuff from the early eras, but this is so much better and shockingly more authentic Janelle Monae - Violet Stars Happy Hunting!: NO THIS EP IS HER BEST WORK. I'VE BEEN SAYING. And this song is a perfect example because it takes the best aspects of her music, the flavor, the funk, and has them turned up. The "du-du-du-du" parts are so catchy and the instrumental is amazing Billie Eilish - my future: Honestly gorgeous and I love the lyrics. Didn't appreciate this enough upon release but it starts to reveal its beauty with a few more listens, perfect to listen to in the dark or at night especially Dido - Here With Me: All of her singles sound the same to me with slightly different frequencies but they're all... fine. She is singing a little harder on this one and kinda sounds like Imogen Heap at points, so I'm feeling it a bit but not a ton Doja Cat - Kiss Me More: I wore this OUT and haven't listened since the album was released. Still hits! Nearly faultless for a pop song on a technical level Kaoma - Lambada: JLo you are going to prison. Anyways, good! I like the way it's sung and the instrumental parts have their own melody which helps FLO - Cardboard Box: Great, the snappy chorus is everything. Out of all the (few) things they've come out with, this feels the most throwback-ish while also sounding the most original, and the harmonies in the final chorus + second verse > first verse make it even more captivating as it goes along Apink CHOBOM - Copycat: Similar to songs from her GG, kind of generic and trendy. Alright ig but I can't say I got much out of it and definitely felt longer than it was Linkin Park - What I've Done: Cool enough and I appreciate that it's a different vibe than most here. There's this... urgency? to the production that almost stresses you out but works Tove Lo - How Long: Gonna look like a Tove Lo hater (which I'm not! But maybe I'm over her) today after GHG too... but not huge on this. I like the "how long" lyric but the synth is pretty dime a dozen, gives the vibe of well, Euphoria background music and that's literally the point so Rihanna - We Found Love: The music video has always elevated this for me but the first verse is by far the best chunk of the song and I don't love it anymore by the time it's over. You have to be very careful with using a sustainable melody on house songs and I'm not sure it's fully accomplished here Foxes - Sister Ray: Almost aged for me... and then it didn't! Even if her music is somewhat faceless there's an unbridled amount of energy on this track, the production alone gives it charm Kelis - Bossy: The chorus SLAMS. The rest is just okay, it's mixed a little weird at points. I will also say the production in the pre-chorus seems pretty ahead of its time Red Velvet - Psycho: HAAAATE. Basically Julia Michaels x Post Malone reconfigured into K-Pop. They've done so much better and really fell off for me after 2017 Mabel - Let Them Know: Queen of pop ended Dua slay purr mama nail emoji but fr this album was a slap that I was not expecting, somehow sounds expensive and richly produced which is surprising from H&M UK-Pop artists like Mabel lol Kesha - Praying: Obviously a powerful and emotional song, so points for that. Musically it's also pretty good but a little too bare bones at points Hatchie - This Enchanted: No words for Snatchie. She is a genius. Collapse.gif. You could send any song by her and it would contend for my #1, I mean come on, that shoegaze passage mixed with the dance beat and ethereal vocals?? My Bloody Valentine could NEVER Leona Lewis - Bleeding Love: Apparently I haven't listened to this in over five years? Wow, well a childhood favorite of mine, reminds me of those "Me singing along to _ at age eight mad at the boyfriend I didn't have" jokes cuz it's so emotionally sung. Nice stuff Céline Dion - I Drove All Night: Not attached to this and it's not good enough on its own. Her vocals (which sound similar to Faith Hill here?) don't fit the production and it's also extremely corny. I like the guitar ig Shakira - La Tortura: I've tried to understand what people love so much but this loses my attention immediately after the opening instrumental (which is great!) @thecptz @Luckitty @Mr. Duff @selena_lavigne @Taylucifer @Moonlightbae @PinkBox @Allday @Bicassie @Opulent @Julia Fox @Rence @Hikari @boys @Technicolor @fiercE @luckystrike It's not letting me tag touya or MusicLoverDude sry Atrl sux
Seffers Posted July 20, 2022 Posted July 20, 2022 Charli XCX - Good Ones: torn because I absolutely adore this song but a 9 in a room full of 10s might make this stumble in my rankings. Adele - Hello: what in the middle aged soccer parent choice is this. is this all you had? Lizzo - About Damn Time: a feelgood bop. unsure of where it will end up in the rankings, but it's cute! Rihanna - Russian Roulette: YUUUUUP. this was criminally slept on. RIH RIH DID WHAT NEEDED TO BE DONE. Janet Jackson - Feedback: a CLASSIC. iconic. great choice. Paramore - Misery Business: they came out the gate SWINGING with this. hayley is such a god-tier vocalist. another amazing choice. TWICE - Fancy: the amount of times I have streamed this yet it sounds so fresh and amazing. they really did the thing with this comeback.. beabadobee - Talk: respectfully, in this stacked of a group.. no. pretty boring. WJSN - UNNATURAL: another great song - the buildup in the prechorus into the chorus is so so good. vocals are wild good too. their best comeback yet Billie Eilish - Ocean Eyes: this is a good example of a slower song that works. one of my more preferred Billie tracks, good choice - not sure where it'll end up in the ratings, probably more mid. Red Velvet - Peek-A-Boo: time to get my Red Velvet stan card revoked but time hasn't done this song well.. it's just kind of.. there? not sure how I feel about this in the context of the group either. Fei - Fantasy: THE KEY CHANGE HELLO? came outta NOWHERE. im a **** for key changes so this will also be payola'd. love love love this. Tove Lo - Glad He's Gone: this is mildly grating.. the chorus is also a no for me. Shakira - Whenever Wherever: always a good time with this song. classic! Sophia Carson - Fool's Gold: this does nothing for me. next. Caroline Polachek - Door: I get the appeal but.. it's just not for me tbh. Ciara - Goodies: now y'all better do this classic JUSTICE. this is so good Confidence Man - Holiday: I guess it's ... fine..? instrumental bops but these vocals... gutted. Nadia Oh - My Egyptian Lover: uhm.. what the hell is this.. no ma'am.
Staryu Posted July 20, 2022 Posted July 20, 2022 Group A Charli XCX - Good Ones So short and simple and good, a little basic, but I love it anyway Adele - Hello This was a moment, still great to me, too bad she has a lot of bandwagon haters now Lizzo - About Damn Time I'm a sucker for the 70s fun bops and I love Lizzo Rihanna - Russian Roulette Love this dramatic classic, a dark pop girl era done right Janet Jackson - Feedback Sexy electronic bop, criminally understreamed on spotify, not even 10m wtf Paramore - Misery Business I feel like this is one of the best possible choices for this round, never seen anyone say they dislike this and lots of nostalgia points TWICE - Fancy Very cute, very fun, very bop, very fancy beabadobee - Talk Love how it reminds me of like the early 00s rock chick songs WJSN - UNNATURAL Really fun bop, love the chorus, up against a bunch of classics but will definitely be safe still Billie Eilish - Ocean Eyes Love the vibes in this song, very pleasant song Red Velvet - Peek-A-Boo It's alright, kinda bops, a little annoying Fei - Fantasy Very lovely, love the pleasant songs even if sometimes they aren't so memorable, this was still really nice Tove Lo - Glad He's Gone I like this but it kinda feels flat against many of the songs here, it's cute tho Shakira - Whenever Wherever Classic, amazing, beautiful, etc Sophia Carson - Fool's Gold Her voice is kinda bland to me but this song is cute Caroline Polachek - Door I love this song, it feels very whimsical to me, it opens doors to other doors to other doors in my mind Ciara - Goodies This song still hits, even Petey's verse tbh Confidence Man - Holiday Not amazing but not terrible, a song I would play for mindless background noise Nadia Oh - My Egyptian Lover Oh is such an appropriate last name for this girl @kipperskipper @Legend E @XO_Life @minho @Rotunda @99sandthe2000s @Fruity @Future Lover @Touch It @ZORBIT @Noah @mokitsu @brycehooha @K$Ellie @Hug @Lucky#17 @wish @Element @Seffers
MusicLoverDude Posted July 20, 2022 Posted July 20, 2022 Here We Go Again - YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS I've really been going back to my pop rock/pop punk music lately and I miss this era from Demi. (Glad she is going back to rock finally). This will rank pretty high with me. Violet Stars Happy Hunting - This is definitely loud. Not sure how I feel about it. Janelle is very theatrical so she makes her mark on the song and the production seems to get better as the song goes. my future - This song is fine. I have to be in the right mood for it though. I doubt this will be low but we'll see how I like the other songs Here With Me - I honestly don't care for Dido that much. I think this song is better than that annoying Thank You song though (but I work at a grocery store so I'm probably overexposed to that song). It actually gets better as the song progresses. Kiss Me More - I like other songs from Planet Her more than this but this song is still a bop and I here this at work sometimes now (strangely enough both Say So and this got on the Vons grocery store radio so I mean, good for her) Lambada - Never was really able to get into Spanish music - sorry Cardboard Box - This is actually really nice. A great surprise especially with how dry 2022 has been musically Copycat - This song is just ok...this feels like a Say So/Kiss Me More ripoff but boring outside of the La La Las. What I've Done - this song has really grown on me over the years and I honestly love it these days. RIP Chester. I hope you do well but you'll at least rank high with me. One of the best songs in the group. How Long - Tove can be hit and miss with me. but this is pretty decent. Just not totally memorable compared to other songs here. We Found Love - I've always loved this song. It's definitely cooled on me with time though so while it will definitely score high, the question is HOW high will it be. Sister Ray - Foxes does a really good job of always allowing me to escape reality for a bit. This song is no different. Thanks for introducing me to this. Bossy - This song was dope when I was younger but it didn't age as well unfortunately. Psycho - This is slightly better than the other k-Pop but the production is really annoying on this one. The "Issues" sounding piano at the beginning then automatically switching to a cheap sounding trap beat is a turn off. The chorus is the only decent part of the song. A decent chorus doesn't save an entire song though when the verses drag on (same reason I never fully got into Sweet But Psycho or Don't Start Now). Let Them Know - Mabel has always been very meh to me. Like, I can see why she's only UK famous. The autotune on this song is also a little too obvious and too much. Honestly, not impressed at all. Pretty bad song. Praying - 5 years later and this song still holds so much power. A defining moment for Kesha and one of the best songs of the 2010s. This Enchanted - Does anyone else get early 2000's Hilary Duff vibes from this? Maybe that's why I'm vibing to this. Really nostalgic feeling vibe. Bleeding Love - Loved this song in Junior High. I still love it now but like with We Found Love it's cooled with time. Will probably be mid-tier at lowest though. I Drove All Night - It feels weird hearing Celine singing a song so uptempo. It gives early 2000s eurodance tbh. I like this over Cyndi's version though. And it's Celine - she sings this so effortlessly that you end up liking the song anyway. La Tortura - So yeah as I said Spanish music isn't something I was ever able to get into. But Shakira has enough charisma to keep me interested regardless of the language.
smholiv Posted July 20, 2022 Posted July 20, 2022 minho reviews: group a Charli XCX - Good Ones It fails to really captivate me but I do like the synthwave aspects, and it's pretty fun for the 2 minutes it lasts. I kind of got tired of this though with time. Adele - Hello I don't like this album and find much of her music tiring. However, listening back to this though it has a nostalgic quality to it that I really appreciate. Almost like it'd belong in a movie or something. Lizzo - About Damn Time Honestly a fun little radio song, and she does this style quite well. I don't think much about it though, it just exists. Rihanna - Russian Roulette I like the moodiness quite a lot, will do well for me! It's a nice juxtaposition from some of her more boisterous upbeat leads. Janet Jackson - Feedback It's okay. Never really got the hype here. I think there were better choices but that's not my call. Paramore - Misery Business Iconic angsty anthem!!! Pop Rock has grown into one of my favourite genres and I think this captures why. It's so full of energy and the chorus hits hard. TWICE - Fancy Later career TWICE was a bit up in the air at times, but this one is great. It's just so cute and bubbly, love~ Beabadoobee - Talk Screams a modern classic for me, everything about this is so excellent, she stepped UP from her last album and developed a new style that suits her lyricism and delivery very well. WJSN - Unnatural Pretty okay, I enjoy it but I don't find it a highlight. Their best songs to me are the more ~cosmic sounding ones. Billie Eilish - ocean eyes The way she was FOURTEEN here. It's just so stunningly beautiful and hits me so hard each time. There's not a ton going on here but I think that's the charm. It's simple and effective. Red Velvet - Peek A Boo This felt like the perfect blend of their signature styles tbh, I miss these days for them! When the music was good oop Fei - Fantasy Underrated! It has a magical quality. I don't listen to this that often because I forget it exists, but she had a nice moment here. Tove Lo - Glad He's Gone An okay listen. I don't mind it, but Tove can get boring really fast for me and this is in the boring category. Shakira - Whenever, Wherever I feel like this is a song where you need a special attachment or nostalgia to really get something out of it. Otherwise it just sounds like something I'd hear at a pharmacy so I don't have many thoughts to share. Sofia Carson - Fools' Gold Tbh this is honestly just really solid. I feel like there's a near infinite number of quick little pop songs that capitalized on the nu-disco trend and most of them just fade into the air but there's something about this that lives in my head? Happy for her, wish this was a nice little hit! Caroline Polachek - Door She sucks. Ciara - Goodies I like it, it's definitely a classic and it's still really fun today, but may not be as high as a few other songs that I prefer, but I'm glad you sent it so I could have a moment with it! Confidence Man - Holiday Not much of a pay off for me unfortunately. Also I don't like either of their vocal deliveries at all, very grating. Nadia Oh - My Egyptian Lover Simultaneously feels like a relic lost to its time, but also a precursor to the futuristic pop that people would spend the latter half of the '10s/into the '20s trying to perfect so like, good for her! I enjoy it!
Tom Vercetti Posted July 20, 2022 Posted July 20, 2022 Charli XCX - Good Ones - It's decent though I always felt this was missing something like a bridge. Doesn't fully satisfy me. Adele - Hello - I'm a residential Adele hater and this song scares me so overall a recipe for disaster. Lizzo - About Damn Time - Not too fond of Lizzo either but this is actually not that bad. Way less offensive compared to her past hits. Rihanna - Russian Roulette - Not among my favorites for her leads but it's still good. Really captures how "dark" the late 00s was for her. Janet Jackson - Feedback - That period lyric always catches me off guard but besides that it's one of my very first introductions to her music so I will always have a soft spot fot it. Paramore - Misery Business - This decade's pop rock is still trying to catch up to this. Instant classic. TWICE - Fancy - Really good for Twice. A hook done right. beabadobee - Talk - It's fine I suppose. Her music doesn't entice me. WJSN - UNNATURAL - K-Pop eating y'all up. Step up guys. Billie Eilish - Ocean Eyes - She's mostly miss for me but I think this song's vibe suits her aesthetic. Solid overall. Red Velvet - Peek-A-Boo: Nice~ Fei - Fantasy - An enjoyable find. Chill and the key change is noteworthy. Tove Lo - Glad He's Gone - Doesn't impact me much. Think she had better lead options. Shakira - Whenever Wherever - Hmm, was never into this unfortunately. Sophia Carson - Fool's Gold - Not bad but I don't think it's gonna do well for me in this group. Caroline Polachek - Door - A little too repetitive for me but it has some good qualities. Ciara - Goodies - This is for the culture. Love this choice. Confidence Man - Holiday - I like the house approach of this. Not too crazy over the singers themselves but I slightly appreciate the out of the box selection. Nadia Oh - My Egyptian Lover - Love how proto-charli/pc/gfoty her music was. She's the blueprint and this is one of my favorite songs from one of my favorite pop albums so i'm gonna reward this well. @kipperskipper @Legend E @XO_Life @minho @Rotunda @99sandthe2000s @Fruity @Future Lover @Touch It @ZORBIT @Noah @mokitsu @brycehooha @K$Ellie @Hug @Lucky#17 @wish @Element @Seffers
ughgabriel Posted July 20, 2022 Posted July 20, 2022 Charli XCX - Good Ones This is a nice bop. I’ve always felt like it’s a bit overhyped because, to me, it’s not the circuit gay popper anthem a lot of people make it out to be. But it is catchy, the dark pop production is mesmerizing and hypnotic as well. A solid choice! Adele - Hello This is one of those big, epic songs where I find myself enjoying and think of it as a good song, but at the same time I don’t particularly find myself craving to listen to it again; the replay value factor is not really there. I will say I love the bridge and last chorus. I understand the song needs to build up to get to that part but I wish she could’ve given me more of those moments. Great song for a road trip with your friends tbh Lizzo - About Damn Time I’ve only heard the tiktok bit and thought the whole song was gonna be like that and I was scared for you this is really fun and I love the energy a lot! Her music is very hit or miss for me, but this song is so fun and full of personality. This really exceeded my expectations! Really liked it!! Rihanna - Russian Roulette Rihanna is such a melodramatic b**** when it comes to ballads kfjshsjd love her for that. After the iconic and flawless Umbrella, this is probably my favorite of her leads. I love the emotion she puts into this song so much. Such a slay song, love this the gunshot at the end always sends me fjshsh Janet Jackson - Feedback Not the auburn pandering already fkshsj This is groovy, I do think it was a bit repetitive and I wished more elements were incorporated as the song went on. It was missing a bit of dynamism to me. Overall it was nice but I wouldn’t think of it as lead single material if I am being completely honest :( Paramore - Misery Business I love this song soooo much. It’s iconic, timeless, sonically pleasing. I think you chose a great song and it’s going to be a contender for my #1. If Still Into You got a win this for sure deserves it as well! TWICE - FANCY This is very cute, I think I liked the bridge the most. I did have a hard time connecting with the chorus cause it was a bit too sugary for me but overal I really liked the vibe of it and the playful nature of the song. I think it has a lot of personality but I’m not sure this is my favorite (or the strongest) sonically beebadobee - Talk I really love the vibe of this song. It’s super catchy and very reminiscing of pop rock era of the 2000s and I do really love that type of music. Since that’s what this song reminds me of, it’s very difficult for me not to compare it to Misery Business given that it is on this same group. And unfortunately this doesn’t meet the angsty energy level that I came to expect after MB. Overall, a great song and I love it! WJSN - UNNATURAL This is fun and I think I’d appreciate it as background music at a store. I don’t think it stands out too much and I don’t really see myself coming back to it :( Billie Eilish - ocean eyes This is very pretty. I actually enjoy it. I really like the chorus and the immersive nature of the production! I don’t think it has a lot of personality though, it’s giving more album track than it does lead single to me Red Velvet - Peek-A-Boo This has a lot of personality which I really appreciate but it sounds a bit too campy for me to actually connect with it. Maybe it’s just not the type of k pop I actually enjoy :( I think it’s nice but I wouldn’t listen to it by choice Fei - Fantasy This is very smooth and pleasing. I don’t really think it’s that memorable but I enjoy the production and catchiness of the song. As many other songs in this group, I don’t find the appeal or I wouldn’t really deem it strong enough to be a lead Tove Lo - Glad He’s Gone Pretty cute song! Probably my least favorite of her leads, it’s a very good representation of the sonic direction of the album but it’s just not something outstanding to me. It’s a good project but it feels a bit watered down to me. Solid choice, not a winner to me :( Shakira - Whenever, Wherever The spanish version > No but really this song is so iconic and it’s probably the one that I’ve known the longest so I have a lot of nostalgia attached to it. It’s such a feel good song and it brings back a lot of memories. I love the tribal feeling her music used to have back in the day. Those flutes > Great choice!! Sofia Carson - Fool’s Gold This is another catchy song that I liked. I feel like it has enough personality, the production is congruent to the vibe she was trying to convey, it checks all the marks. At the same time I feel like it was a bit uneventful? Like, I liked it and it feels more of a lead single than other entries in this group but at the same time it failed to really leave an impression on me. You did a good job, though! I’d say this will be on the upper half of my rankings Caroline Polachek - Door I love this song so much :grimes: the experimental elements of the production, the ethereal post chorus/instrumental bridge and the outro. This song is so gorgeous and it projects a clear vision of what the album is and what it has to offer. What an amazing lead ????? Ciara - Goodies (feat. Petey Pablo) What an hooooot song!! I’ve never been familiar with Ciara’s music, I think she’s very 2000s and at that time I would only listen to music in spanish :shy: I really loved this and sounds like a classic. Added to my library <3 Confidence Man - Holiday This is campy. I liked the guy’s vocals and the mario party videogame esque production. I do have to say that I couldn’t connect with the chorus. It was too repetitive for my liking and those vocals are not something I particularly enjoy. The song has enough personality so I appreciate that Nadia Oh - My Egyptian Lover This is giving me The Ting Tings. Uhm, I get the vision, but I just don’t find it appealing at all. That one bit that was trying to sound like egyptian music was so corny :cri: I’m sorry, this is not for me at all @kipperskipper @Legend E @XO_Life @minho @Rotunda @99sandthe2000s @Fruity @Future Lover @Touch It @ZORBIT @Noah @mokitsu @brycehooha @K$Ellie @Hug @Lucky#17 @wish @Element @Seffers
Taylucifer Posted July 21, 2022 Posted July 21, 2022 Demi Lovato - Here We Go Again - i’m an ODH now but i won’t deny i was a stan during this era and this song brings back memories Janelle Monae - Violet Stars Happy Hunting! - not a big fan of this tbh sorry Billie Eilish - my future - one of my faves from Billie! the second half is amazing Dido - Here With Me - will probably put this in the lower half of my rankings Doja Cat - Kiss Me More - love this song it’s so catchy! this song reminds me of Summer 2021 Kaoma - Lambada - wait did JLO sample this for On The Floor? FLO - Cardboard Box - i like this one! will probs put this in the middle Apink CHOBOM - Copycat - um sure Linkin Park - What I've Done - you’re brave for sending a song from male band nnn anyway i don’t like this (not bc it’s from a male band but because it just sucks) Tove Lo - How Long - yessss this is such a bop Rihanna - We Found Love - i’m so mad i didn’t think of sending this a classic! Foxes - Sister Ray - it’s cute Kelis - Bossy - it’s cute [2] Red Velvet - Psycho - idk how i feel about this one. it’s just okay i guess? Mabel - Let Them Know - this is fun omg i like it Kesha - Praying - a classic! i’ll rank this high just for the nostalgia feeling it gives me Hatchie - This Enchanted - didn’t expect to like this one a lot! good job Leona Lewis - Bleeding Love - A ******* CLASSICCCC! definitely will put this in my top 3 Céline Dion - I Drove All Night - i surprisingly don’t like this Shakira - La Tortura - i immediately got bored
Not Like The Movies Posted July 21, 2022 Posted July 21, 2022 GROUP A CRITIQUES Charli XCX - Good Ones - This is a solid pop song, this was her first song in years that I actually enjoyed. It's a nice harmless song. Adele - Hello - I really enjoyed this song when it first came out but then I got tired of it easily, I'm guessing her other leads are banned because I feel like this is one of her weaker ones, it's a good song but not one of my favs. Lizzo - About Damn Time - This is such an infectious song. Lizzo to me is such a breath of fresh air, she makes me smile, enjoy myself and just be carefree, this is one of the best pop songs of the year imo. Rihanna - Russian Roulette - What an excellent selection. This has always been one of my favourite Rih singles and I am quite happy to see it sent here, well done! Janet Jackson - Feedback - GIMME A BEAT!! Wheww I was hoping someone sent Godnet. I absolutely love love this song, there are some production elements that elevates this song and takes it to another level, I love this entry. Paramore - Misery Business - This is a classic of course, not one of my favourites this round but I still like this song. TWICE - Fancy - This was fun and catchy beabadobee - Talk - I first heard this song in ASC, it was just alright for me then and it's just alright for me now, it's not a bad song but it just doesn't standout for me personally. WJSN - UNNATURAL - This was fine, there are parts I liked and there are parts that were just okay. Billie Eilish - Ocean Eyes - The song that introduced me to Billie. This song is stunning and has a sort of calming element to it even though the lyrics thematically are far from calm, I love the contrast to the depressing subject to the ethereal production. Great pick! Red Velvet - Peek-A-Boo - This has some quite interesting production elements, I like it. Fei - Fantasy - I quite enjoyed this, I didn't know Fei from Miss A had solo music, I have to research all of their solo work, this was nice. Tove Lo - Glad He's Gone - She has some better leads imo but I guess only this was available? Either way, I do like this song. Shakira - Whenever Wherever - yaaaaaaaaaaaas!!! I was so happy to see this BANGER in the lineup, this is probably one of my fav Shakira singles ever, it just makes me want to immediately dance. Sophia Carson - Fool's Gold - This is a nice pop song, it doesn't blow me away tbqh but it's fine. She was great on PLL the perfectionist, sad they cancelled it. Caroline Polachek - Door - Honestly, this has never been one of my favs from her, like I can bop to it and it's fine but there are some other songs in this lineup that I absolutely love and gorgeous devours cute. Ciara - Goodies - What an absolute classic!! My friends and I actually were bopping to this last week in his car, it was so fun! I love music from this era. Confidence Man - Holiday - Okay so both singers on this song need vocal lessons ASAP. The production is at least interesting ig, not sure if it's in a good day kii. Hmmm this one I'm not a big fan of im so sorry. Nadia Oh - My Egyptian Lover - Every time I hear music from this artist, it gets worse. I really don't get the appeal of whatever she makes, it's beyond awful to me, I am so sorry but this does absolutely nothing for me. I guess the production is interesting but that doesn't always mean it's good. @kipperskipper @Legend E @XO_Life @minho @Rotunda @99sandthe2000s @Fruity @Future Lover @Touch It @ZORBIT @Noah @mokitsu @brycehooha @K$Ellie @Hug @Lucky#17 @wish @Element @Seffers

Mr. Duff Posted July 21, 2022 Posted July 21, 2022 Demi Lovato - Here We Go Again classic pop-rock from Demi. Always loved this one. Kudos! Janelle Monae - Violet Stars Happy Hunting! it's weird and cool at the same time. Billie Eilish - my future You can never go wrong with Billie Eilish. Beautiful song. Dido - Here With Me Her voice is captivating. I love this. Doja Cat - Kiss Me More Never really a fan of this song. Kaoma - Lambada Oh wow, a throwback. Not sure where this will land though. FLO - Cardboard Box Cute RnB song. Will probably not gonna be able to stack up with competition though. Apink CHOBOM - Copycat Oh no what is this. Linkin Park - What I've Done YES, CLASSIC! TOP THREE!!! Tove Lo - How Long a strong one, I really like this, kinda like female The Weeknd style Rihanna - We Found Love great song but it's too repetitive and I easily lose attention for this song. Foxes - Sister Ray I love the production. It's like Ellie Goulding a bit in the chorus. Kelis - Bossy Not for me. Red Velvet - Psycho Also not for me. Mabel - Let Them Know It's a no. Kesha - Praying Amazing song, love Kesha's vulnerability here. Hatchie - This Enchanted This is cool. Leona Lewis - Bleeding Love A classic, amazing song, vocals are divine, it's a great choice Céline Dion - I Drove All Night Another throwback, but it's just okay. Celine's voice is always great though Shakira - La Tortura Good song, will probably be mid-tier though in rankings
K$Ellie Posted July 21, 2022 Posted July 21, 2022 Charli XCX - Good Ones: always thought this was one of her weakest singles Adele - Hello: Hot AC bait, tanked Lizzo - About Damn Time: this song radiates Ellen energy and i hate the second verse Rihanna - Russian Roulette: classic Janet Jackson - Feedback: a bit dated but cute Paramore - Misery Business: classic TWICE - Fancy: this made me stan them for about a year, one of my favorite k-pop songs beabadobee - Talk: one of my favorite songs of all time, everything about it is perfect WJSN - UNNATURAL: the chorus sounds too wordy, Yalla and New Me are so much better Billie Eilish - Ocean Eyes: her most overrated song, it's just okay Red Velvet - Peek-A-Boo: thank god this went to them instead of Britney, they really did it justice Fei - Fantasy: a cute chill bop, never heard this before but it's quite good Tove Lo - Glad He's Gone: didn't care for this until the video, love it now Shakira - Whenever Wherever: classic Sophia Carson - Fool's Gold: harmless Caroline Polachek - Door: classic Ciara - Goodies: not one of my absolute faves from her but classic Confidence Man - Holiday: don't like the vocals at all Nadia Oh - My Egyptian Lover: dated/futuristic classic
Kinich Posted July 21, 2022 Posted July 21, 2022 Demi Lovato - Here We Go Again Their second best lead single, very nostalgic and still sounds good up until this day. Janelle Monae - Violet Stars Happy Hunting! Ngl, I've never listened to this album before. It was fine, doesnt match her other lead singles tho. Billie Eilish - my future I didn't care for this when it was released as the (lead) single, I've learned to appreciate it more during the album release and had grown to become one of my all time billie faves. Dido - Here With Me It was decent tho I need to be in a ceratin mood to appreciate this kind of music more. Doja Cat - Kiss Me More Well I did love this song a lot, a bit tired of it now but I enjoyed it. Kaoma - Lambada tú eres.... j*t*? jk! Washed JLo with ease! FLO - Cardboard Box One of my fave debuts this year, they really ate! Apink CHOBOM - Copycat We love Doja Cat in this house! It was cute and fun! Linkin Park - What I've Done Well, you're one brave soldier I guess x Tove Lo - How Long Hmmm is this a lead single? Not really feeling the new Tove songs so far, this is kinda better but we'll see x Rihanna - We Found Love My second least favorite Rih lead/single after Diamonds, it's a pass for me x Foxes - Sister Ray I'm already more than over this album but this song was really enjoyable when it was released. Kelis - Bossy It's good for a throwback, so there's that. Red Velvet - Psycho Their second most overrated song after Bad Boy, it also doesn't help that it sounds very J*lia Michaels-ish. Mabel - Let Them Know I would have given this a big fat zero had the game started 2 weeks ago but something shifted this week. Kesha - Praying A very beautiful song, nothing more to say. Hatchie - This Enchanted Yes queen of shoegaze and dreampop! I love this song and the album where it's from <3 Leona Lewis - Bleeding Love Well I did love this song as a kid, let's see if nostalgia can go places x Céline Dion - I Drove All Night A Cyndi Lauper cover right, she made it a bit enjoyable at least. Shakira - La Tortura Excellent! One of her all time best songs too!
Staryu Posted July 21, 2022 Posted July 21, 2022 Group B Demi Lovato - Here We Go Again Top 3 Demi song for me, they really slayed this pop/rock sound. Janelle Monae - Violet Stars Happy Hunting! She's been very quirky/creative since the beginning and only mastered her sound since this. Billie Eilish - my future Very chill, Billie sounds good, and I like how it switches up Dido - Here With Me I like Dido, so I won't tank like most people, I mostly associate this song with the movie Love, Actually Doja Cat - Kiss Me More I love Doja and love SZA and love this song so Kaoma - Lambada I've never heard this so I had no idea On the Floor sampled this, this is a very interesting choice FLO - Cardboard Box One of the best debut singles of all time I think Apink CHOBOM - Copycat It's very cute Linkin Park - What I've Done Somewhere I Belong was right there Tove Lo - How Long I like this, it's nice background music while I'm playing games Rihanna - We Found Love The production isn't the freshest sounding anymore but it's still a bop, the chorus still hits Foxes - Sister Ray Was obsessed with this bop earlier this year Kelis - Bossy This song is a mood, it's a bop, it's a mindset, it's an anthem Red Velvet - Psycho I like the production Mabel - Let Them Know Big bop, something about it makes me think of a RuPaul song Kesha - Praying It's a powerful/emotional song, never loved the melody but her rawness and vulnerability makes the song memorable Hatchie - This Enchanted Currently obsessed with this Leona Lewis - Bleeding Love Big classic, still holds up for me Céline Dion - I Drove All Night Another vocal queen love this stalker anthem Shakira - La Tortura I love when songs have a fast talking part, idk why, really revs my engine. This is just a fun song overall @thecptz @Luckitty @Mr. Duff @selena_lavigne @Taylucifer @Moonlightbae @PinkBox @Allday @Bicassie @Opulent @Julia Fox @Rence @Hikari @boys @Technicolor @fiercE @luckystrike
Future Lover Posted July 21, 2022 Posted July 21, 2022 Charli XCX - Good Ones Basic bop done right Adele - Hello After not hearing this song for years, I don't mind it actually. It is at least much better than Easy on Me Lizzo - About Damn Time The production is extremeley cheap fff but overall it's a cute enough bop Rihanna - Russian Roulette Damn, I used to be obsessed with this song. Still easily one of her best! Janet Jackson - Feedback I think this was the first Janet's song I've ever heard. She has better but it's still a bop Paramore - Misery Business Well I do like this song, but clearly I'm not as enamoured with it as everyone else seems to be TWICE - Fancy Still one of their best! Such an euphoric song beabadobee - Talk Love it. One of my favorite songs of the year so far WJSN - UNNATURAL Love this group & love this song. The oversinging and the wordy chorus just works here Billie Eilish - Ocean Eyes Not a fan of her but I've always liked this song. Just very soothing and pleasant Red Velvet - Peek-A-Boo Cute but overrated. They have much better songs Fei - Fantasy I've forgotten about this song. I still like it! Tove Lo - Glad He's Gone This grew on me after I watched the video, but overall this whole album was just not it Shakira - Whenever Wherever A classic and easily one of her best songs Sophia Carson - Fool's Gold One of the only two songs I didn't know before. It's cute I guess, gonna have to relisten later Caroline Polachek - Door Cute sing but SHYHMF and Ocean of Tears outsold Ciara - Goodies Fun classic. It kinda aged like milk but I still like it Confidence Man - Holiday This is weird but I didn't dislike it. I'll relisten to it later Nadia Oh - My Egyptian Lover Messy bop

wish Posted July 21, 2022 Posted July 21, 2022 Charli XCX - Good Ones: not really my favorite Charli song as it’s a bit repetitive and uninspired. still a bop Adele - Hello: Adele’s strong, melodramatic vocals always do it for me, even though the song itself isn’t that impressive Lizzo - About Damn Time: stone cold BOP, i’ve been getting kinda sick of disco revival but this is still stands out as a real pop gem of 2022 Rihanna - Russian Roulette: a classic Rihanna ballad! Rated R is one of my faves from her and this is one of the strongest tracks Janet Jackson - Feedback: YESSS, one of janet's best post-prime singles imo Paramore - Misery Business: One of my favorite songs from one of my favorite bands of all time. This will never get old for me TWICE - Fancy: not really my thing, it’s too sugary and cutesy for me beabadobee - Talk: ugh yesss, love this song. amazing chorus WJSN - UNNATURAL: i’m not a big kpop fan but this was kinda a vibe. i like the “wordiness” that some people are commenting on Billie Eilish - Ocean Eyes: hauntingly gorgeous alt-pop classic, such an amazing introduction to one of the best artists of our time Red Velvet - Peek-A-Boo: this was absolutely not for me. exactly the type of overproduced pop noise that I would instantly skip Fei - Fantasy: mid Tove Lo - Glad He's Gone: one of my favorite Tove Lo songs ever, it’s an earworm and i just adore the sentiment of her singing this to a best friend who’s finally dropped a toxic ex Shakira - Whenever Wherever: mega classic like wow Sophia Carson - Fool's Gold: mid Caroline Polachek - Door: just beautiful. a dynamic ethereal masterpiece that i hold close to my heart Ciara - Goodies: classic omg. this brings me back to very very early days Confidence Man - Holiday: this was an interesting song. i liked the personality & early 90s house vibe but the vocals were kinda terrible. very mixed feelings Nadia Oh - My Egyptian Lover: nawtttt this trashy BOP! I didn’t expect to see Nadia Oh in here nnn
