The way this could have happened with any song, yet Ms. Bush’s iconic anthem was the chosen one :jonny: we literally have NO choice but to stan

I really want to know what made the producers of ST (or whoever) choose this song.  It worked perfectly and now I just can’t imagine any other song having this effect

I don't think it has peaked. It's also going to have a prominent feature in the finale of the season in July so it's definitely getting another moment.

They can't ignore a song which is pulling 7mln+ streams:gaycat1:

the layered production and melodies in this song are just beyond stunning. How did she pull that level of production off in the friggin 80s when they had limited sounds available to them?

Kate Bush had her own multitrack recording studio in a barn in the early 1980s and she had been working with the Fairlight CMI since 1980 when she first used it on Never for Ever (album).

Quote

The main riff from Running Up That Hill was created by using one of the included cello samples from the Fairlight CMI, which was then manipulated by Kate Bush in various ways to create the main riff, as well as the backing strings.

OT - I'm not sure which charts get released first, perhaps the ARIA singles charts from Australia might have her in their Top 50 tomorrow?

They only have a few hours left in their tracking week and these days ARIA are faster to publish their charts than the New Zealand singles charts which will come out a little later.

I've never seen a famous female singer solo produce her own albums before.

Rosalia does.

It's #2 US Spotify, YouTube and #3 Apple Music. I think it could sneak to #2 as streaming is holding really well.

It's actually #1 US Spotify since yesterday.

And no TTH yet:flame:

It would easily get 10mln on Friday.

"Running Up That Hill" and the Hounds of Love album is on the EMI Label, meaning it's part of Universal, so you'd hope they can get it on TTH soon.

I love that we never know what's going to happen next with today's industry. It's pretty interesting :giraffe:

And it's not going #1 on the official chart due to the stupid ACR rule.

This song has been a classic since it’s release. Crazy we have a song by one of the greatest writers and most genius artists ever climbing this hard 4 decades after release

So does it have a chance to go # 1 on hot 100?

She's only 400k away from #1 WW, it'd be a shame she peaked before she can catch up to "As It Was" which is a monster.

I feel like the song is startin to peak. The song can only do so much with just the ST audience, especially when the first week of release is almost done which is usually when the bulk of the fans are done bingin with the new season. Now Tik Tok which also keeps it afloat will slow down too. At least "As It Was" (stabilized at 8 million) isn't perched as high as "good 4 u" (stabilized at 11M) last year, otherwise she would've definitely been stuck at #2.

We still have Vol 2 so it has a chance to re peak
