Well not to be rude but I don't think many people care about Ellie Goulding at this point. Taylor is trending #1 on Twitter for her commencement address, I've found articles from NUMEROUS sources on the address (I could only find like 3 for Ellie ). Obviously it has little impact on people's real, day-to-day lives, but Taylor is such a big star that literally anything she does gets covered EXTENSIVELY. A sizable portion of people will see this on the cover of a tabloid when they're at the grocery store in the next week or two, never mind those that look at Twitter or Reddit or Facebook where numerous posts are going viral with chunks of her speech.

And whether people like it or not… the very word/term “cancelled” has been adopted by literally everyone regardless of original meaning/intent etc… there is a discussion to be had around AAVE (and even queer) slang being diluted and co-opted by white people but that’s a wider discussion… a discussion Taylor has no business being at the centre of.
