Positions didn't smash but it did well, and she could 100% tour if she wanted to, but she famously hates touring and the era is long over... If you think Camila, who's literally opening for Coldplay right now, could tour, then  Ariana and Camila couldn't be in more different circumstances if they tried.

 

I literally said in my post that Miley and Demi weren't in their prime when they judged. I also don't recall anyone thinking Katy was in her prime either. The Voice may pay well but it doesn't pay anywhere near what a successful career, touring, putting out music, and performing pays, otherwise a ton of other artists would be doing that instead.

Ariana was one of the main reasons Save Your Tears took off?? The song already took off before her and was already a huge hit going to #1 on Pop radio and #4 on The Hot 100 before the remix ever came out. I don’t follow Camila like that to know her touring ability, but at the same time if this what if this is an easier and more profitable fit for her now, then I don’t see what’s the issue. You keep going on about how touring was so bad for Ariana’s mental health and many artists have talked about how exhausting and mentally tolling touring can be too. Well, I mean if it’s that bad, then who can blame Camila or any artist for choosing this instead?

??? Katy started doing American Idol in 2018. Prism was in 2013. She'd just come off Witness when she did AI. Katy was not hot at the time and no one was confused.

 

In 2008 Demi Lovato was still working for Disney and had just turned 16  you talked about how it makes sense that Camila is doing guest judging because of how deep she is into her career, basically implying it was normal because they were veterans. I'm literally arguing that how long you are into your career is not the relevant part when committing yourself to do a TV show like The Voice or AI, but that the important factor is how big or small your career is. If you're able to maintain a successful career releasing music, touring, performing, promoting you're most likely not going to sign a contract that forces you to a fixed schedule for several months.

 

All I'm saying is that acting like this is in any way a good thing or a good sign for Camila's career is being naive. Camila is 25 years old. She came off a successful band and her entire career so far has been pumped full of endless cash to keep it afloat. The fact that three albums in, with only two hits (both collabs) to her name, she's already ending an era right after it starts, not touring, not promoting, tells you her career is on such a steep decline it'll be incredibly hard to recover it, and her team has more or less accepted it.

 

I also didn't go "on and on" about Ariana's mental health, I made one offhand comment once... and didn't even mention her mental health. I just said she doesn't like it, which she's on the record saying. It doesn't really have to do with the gruelling schedule of touring either... don't know where you got all that from.

 

Also, like, she literally said she wouldn't be touring in late 2020 for different reasons...

 

But Ariana can tour... she 100% can fill arenas easily. She famously doesn't like touring and when Positions came out it was the height of the pandemic so she wasn't gonna announce a new tour in the midst of that. Now between the fact that she doesn't like touring and how long gone the Positions era is, she's just not gonna do it. She said herself she'll tour two albums together... Dua and Gaga had already sold tickets for their tours before the pandemic started, to name the two examples you gave.

 

Camila can't tour. IDK what her mental health regarding tour is, but it's irrelevant because she can't tour anyway. She couldn't sell out 12,000 venues right after Señorita took off  

Her tickets initially went on sale on November 17 2019, they sold at a boost until Christmas, once that was done, she sold less than 5,000 tickets in 2+ months and still had 45K available. And this is while she had a hit single everywhere. That's how tragic her sales were.

 

 

 

And the rewritten history with Save Your Tears when Billboard itself said the song went #1 thanks to Ariana

People were definitely confused when Katy announced and shocked she was doing Idol. Katy was announced as a judge for American Idol on May 16, 2017. Witness came out a month later. Of course, the auditions are filmed before the live shows and that’s why it didn’t air until 2018

I already said people don’t do these shows unless they’ve declined in some fashion and that applies to basically every judge ever on The Voice and you’ve even admitted Ariana declined in her own way with Positions too. Touring is not the end all be all. You said Camila’s team accepted it..but what do you expect them to do? Force her to tour? If The Voice is a better and more profitable fit for her now, then I don’t see the issue. 

 

Plus, Bam Bam is still a current single and it’s not over yet, so it’s not like she threw in the towel already for the era. Just like how Katy taped the audition rounds long before they aired, the same would happen for The Voice

 

How am I rewriting history? I didn’t say that the remix didn’t help the song go to #1 on The Hot 100, but you said that Ariana was one of the reasons why the song took off and like I said, that’s not true at all. 

 

Like I said, Save Your Tears was already #1 on Pop radio and #4 on The Hot 100, so the song was already a huge hit, so no, Ariana was not one of the reasons why the song took off because it already had taken off. She just hopped on a remix last minute. The song would have been a huge hit regardless.
