Mess, not my praise serving backhanded compliment unintentionally.  Although melody is just as important as lyrics in actual song composition I believe. Regardless, "View" is my second favourite from the EP though, and that's that on that!

I'd say it's a bit of both, but in short, it's a general rating. I cannot speak for the other judges, but when it comes time to review the submissions, I will be taking various factors or "criteria" into consideration when forming my general rating. Some of these factors will be consistent among all submissions and all rounds, while others will be tailed to specific challenge briefs or individual players if they received a specific piece of constructive criticism and have taken that on board. Context is also imperative; a song with fantastic wordplay and many brilliant, creative rhymes can be just as good as a free form song without any apparent rhyming or wordplay if the overall piece is cohesive and lyrically mesmerising. There's definitely no formula or recipe for a well-written song, especially not in Golden Hit. Unconventionality and experimentation will be welcomed as much as tradition and commercialism!

Glad to hear this! I like to jump between different writing styles so I'm excited that I could serve Never Let Me Go one day and The Ketchup Song (Aserejé) the next day

The artists you listed are all really great, and the songs you mentioned are really interesting, I don't think anybody has mentioned them before but they are great examples of well written songs!

I don't know if I'm right here, but The Menace is kinda giving reputation era teas a little?  I really enjoyed reading it and can definitely see it in that vain, even with Taylor's voice singing it in my head. A great sign

I think it's going to be a fun challenge! It's a great (re-)introductory challenge that'll surely inspire some creative entries. While I won't be participating as a contestant per se, I will be writing alongside you all, adhering to the same challenges and deadlines.

Never too late! Unlike most other tournaments, sign ups won't close until the end of the season. That means someone can submit for the sixth and final round only if they wish! Participating in all of the rounds will give you the best chance at being named this season's winner of Golden Hit, if that's one of your goals for the season. However, while this is a tournament, and there will be a winner, we don't want this to be the sole or even the main focus of this experience. Progression in each individual's writing is always the goal!

Since Golden Hit isn't a traditional game with eliminations and is more like a song writing boot camp, the sign ups won't end. You can join at any point! 

This season will run for six rounds, and if anybody misses a round they are still free to join and take part in the next one.

Exactly, not submitting would mean a 0 for that week and will count to your overall average at the end of the season. So if you are worried about your average I’d recommend sending something in even if you are busy and it is just something quick or small, since that would be better than just getting a 0.
